VISTA (KGTV) – One person is dead and four more injured after three motorcycles crashed in Vista Saturday night.The crash happened at the intersection of Monte Mar Road and East Vista Way around 6:30 p.m. The motorcyclist who died is 55, but authorities did not release his name.Deputies say at least three motorcycles and one car were involved in the crash. All of the motorcyclists are part of the same club.Deputies say three Harley’s crashed with a Toyota Camry. Authorities don’t believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. 544

WASHINGTON (AP) — No one budged at President Donald Trump's White House meeting with congressional leaders Wednesday, so the partial government shutdown persisted through a 12th day over his demand for billions of dollars to build a wall along the U.S. border with Mexico. They'll try again Friday.In one big change, the new Congress convenes Thursday with Democrats taking majority control of the House, and Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said outside the White House that there would be rapid passage of legislation to re-open the government — without funds for the border wall. VISTA (CNS) - A 59-year-old motorist was killed Friday in a solo crash on state Route 78 near Shadowridge Golf Club.The man lost control of the Ford F-150 for unknown reasons while driving in the far left-hand westbound lane of the freeway west of Sycamore Avenue in Vista shortly after 12:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.The vehicle veered to the right, crossing all lanes before leaving the roadway, plunging down an embankment and striking a tree, CHP public-affairs Officer Mark Latulippe said.Paramedics took the motorist, an Oceanside resident, to Palomar Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His name was withheld pending family notification.Intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the crash, Latulippe said. 767

VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — A SWAT team with the San Diego Sheriff's Department arrested a former high school speech therapist on Friday morning.Arturo Avina, 33, was taken into custody on the 1000 block of Shadoridge Drive in Vista.He had been working as a speech therapist at Rancho Buena Vista High School from August of 2017 until January of 2019, according to Lisa Contreras, a spokesperson for Vista Unified School District.In February, investigators allege, he began sending menacing messages to former colleagues. The sheriff’s department called him a “disgruntled employee” but did not describe the nature of the threats.Contreras said the threats were only made against staff, adding “at no time were there any students who were in danger.”Avina was booked on charges of criminal threats as well as burglary and vandalism.He is being held at the Vista Detention Facility on 0,000 bail. A court hearing for his arraignment is scheduled on Monday. 961
