(CNN) -- Nike's gamble to partner with athlete-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick paid off Sunday as the company won an Emmy for outstanding commercial at the 2019 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.The commercial, titled "Dream Crazy," features Kaepernick alongside other sports legends including Serena Williams and LeBron James, who have reached beyond their personal achievements to support and advance political and social causes.The ad was released in September 2018 days before the start of the NFL season. Kaepernick was one of the faces of Nike's 30th anniversary commemoration of its iconic "Just Do It" campaign.Despite some intense response to the ad -- like people burning their Nike shoes and a Missouri college dropping the brand -- the company's stock hit an all-time high. Nike also gained tens of thousands of Instagram followers after announcing the campaign.Since the commercial aired on televisions around the world, Nike has released several other socially and politically charged ads featuring an array of athletes from different backgrounds. (KGTV) -- As spring breakers get ready to flock to vacation destinations around the world, a new report shows that Mexico has some of the most dangerous cities. Tijuana is the most dangerous city in the world, according to a report by the Citizens’ Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice. The Los Angeles Times reports that five cities in Mexico are among the most dangerous in the world. The list includes Acapulco, Victoria, Juarez, Irapuato and Tijuana. The report was published shortly after the U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Mexico issued a warning to people traveling for spring break. The alert warns of dangers including unregulated alcohol, sexual assault, medical emergencies and breaking the law in Mexico. According to Journey Mexico, more than 10 million people visited Mexico during the first quarter of 2018. Cancun is one of the top destinations in Mexico for spring breakers. While the vast majority of travelers have safe and enjoyable trips, Spring Break travel can sometimes include unforeseen problems," the alert read. For many of these cases, the officers were cleared of wrongdoing. Others resulted in officers being reprimanded, fired or even charged criminally --- but all of these cases resulted in community reactions. It requires California law enforcement agencies to make internal reports for officer-involved shootings and major uses of force, officer dishonesty and confirmed cases of sexual assault available to the public. The project includes a searchable database, where you can find cases by the name of the officer involved, the name of the victim/suspect, the department and much more. (KGTV) -- A smartphone tool aimed at alerting Californians on potential exposure to the coronavirus was launched on Thursday.According to Gov. Newsom’s office, the free CA Notify system “will help reduce the transmission of COVID-19.” Californians can opt into the digital tool “to receive COVID-19 notifications informing them if they have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for the virus,” Newsom’s office said.Officials confirmed CA Notify is “a completely private, anonymous and secure tool that does not collect location data from any device and never shares user identities.”iPhone users can enable CA Notify by going to Settings, and then to Exposure Notifications. From there, users will have the option to Turn On Exposure Notifications. Users will then choose United States, followed by California.Android device users who want to be notified will have to download the CA Notify app from the Google Play store.How CA Notify functions, according to state officials:“When individuals voluntarily activate CA Notify, the tool uses Bluetooth technology to exchange random codes between phones without revealing the user’s identity or location.If a CA Notify user tests positive for COVID-19, they will receive a verification code to plug into the app, if they choose. Any other CA Notify users who have been within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more of the COVID-19 positive individual will get an anonymous notification of possible exposure.CA Notify will accelerate how quickly people get notified of a possible COVID-19 exposure, giving people the information they need to make responsible decisions around quarantine and testing.Users who have tested positive for COVID-19 will get a text from the California Department of Public Health at 855-976-8462 with a code which they can enter into CA Notify triggering an alert to phones of people who may have been exposed in the previous 14 days.”The CA Notify system began this fall as a pilot program at UC San Diego and UC San Francisco. 2011
