Mariah Carey says that for years she didn't want to believe her diagnosis, but now the superstar singer is proud to share.In a new People magazine cover story, Carey talks about having been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and where she is today."Until recently I lived in denial and isolation and in constant fear someone would expose me," she said. "It was too heavy a burden to carry and I simply couldn't do that anymore. I sought and received treatment, I put positive people around me and I got back to doing what I love -- writing songs and making music."The Mayo Clinic defines bipolar disorder as "a mental health condition that causes extreme mood swings that include emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression)."Carey said she was first diagnosed in 2001 when she was hospitalized following a breakdown.She said she recently sought treatment after years of upheaval in her professional and personal life.Carey told the publication she is now in therapy and taking medication for bipolar II disorder, which involves periods of depression as well as hypomania.Her medication is working well, she said."It's not making me feel too tired or sluggish or anything like that," the singer said. "Finding the proper balance is what is most important."On Wednesday, Carey tweeted the cover image of her story in People."I'm grateful to be sharing this part of my journey with you," she wrote in the tweet.Carey, who is divorced from actor Nick Cannon and shares 6-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan with him, said she decided to go public now because she's "just in a really good place right now, where I'm comfortable discussing my struggles with bipolar II disorder.""I'm hopeful we can get to a place where the stigma is lifted from people going through anything alone," Carey said. This visit has an important purpose."I had to fly home to vote," Asner said.Asner's parents, Chris and Lisa Hall, sent his ballot to North Carolina on Oct. 14, where Jonas goes to school. His father, Chris Hall, purchased priority mail through USPS. The ballot was supposed to arrive in two to three days. Lutz, Fla. — The driver of a Tesla plowed through the wall of an empty storefront and then into the side of the Anytime Fitness on North Dale Mabry Highway in Pasco County, Florida.No one in the gym was hurt, although witnesses tell Scripps station WFTS in Tampa there were several people working out at the time, which was before noon on Sunday, April 22.The driver was also not injured.Florida Highway Patrol and the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.The driver told troopers and deputies that she was coming into the parking lot to stop at the nearby nail salon, and said she was pressing the brakes, but the vehicle kept accelerating.The first store she crashed into used to be a karate studio where kids would normally be working out, but that business recently re-located.Her vehicle slammed through a second wall, into the gym next to several treadmills.Authorities did not administer a sobriety test, according to the crash report.Tesla vehicle are equipped with what is called “Auto-Pilot” mode, but auto-pilot is not the vehicle’s mode of functioning, especially if the vehicle is not on a highway and is turning into a parking lot. 1179

MIAMI (AP) — The U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) says Tropical Storm Nana has formed south of Jamaica, and is taking aim at Central America.An Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft crew flew into the storm, recording maximum sustained winds of 50 mph with higher gusts.Nana is the earliest 14th named storm on record, beating Nate, which formed on Sept. 6 in 2005, according to Colorado State University professor Phil Klotzbach.The hurricane center says Nana is centered about 120 miles southwest of Kingston, Jamaica, and is moving west at 18 mph on a path that could damage Belize, Honduras, Guatemala and southernmost Mexico.The NHC said Tuesday afternoon that Nana is forecast to be a hurricane near landfall.Here are the Key Messages for Tuesday early afternoon for Tropical Storm #Nana.
