SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- The fearsome NFL pass rusher Fred Dean has died. The death of the former San Francisco 49ers star on Wednesday night was confirmed by the Pro Football Hall of Fame.Ex-teammate Dwight Hicks says Dean was hospitalized last week with the coronavirus and was on a ventilator. Dean was 68 years old.Dean was a key part of the launch of the 49ers' dynasty. He was an undersized pass rusher who began his career as a second-round pick with the San Diego Chargers in 1975 and ended it in the Pro Football Hall of Fame after being named an All-Pro twice and making four Pro Bowls.Dean was an All-Pro for the Chargers in 1980 but had his biggest impact after being traded to San Francisco during the 1981 season.Dean is a member of the Chargers Hall of Fame and was named to the Bolts' 40th and 50th anniversary teams. 838

SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV) - Hundreds gathered at a park in San Ysidro in support of the migrant caravan just hours before border officials closed the border.A group called the San Diego Migrant and Refugee Coalition organized the Sunday rally that eventually turned into a march. About 600 people joined the coalition which is made up of 20 migrant support and social justice groups. The organizers say they disagree with the militarization of the border and want the migrants to know they are loved and welcome. The march ended peacefully at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.  606

SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) - Several white nationalist posters were discovered at California State University San Marcos, campus officials said Tuesday.The posters, which were found at various locations Monday, advertised a group that is identified by multiple civil rights organizations as a hate group, according to CSUSM.According to the university, the group responsible for putting up the posters, Identity Evropa, is the same group that put up posters at SDSU in February. The university believes the timing of the posters is connected to the Pittsburgh shooting.University Police removed the posters, which violated the college’s posting policy, officials said. The college is investigating the matter.“While we grieve for the victims and offer our support to those impacted – the survivors, their friends, family members and loved ones – I want to be clear: White supremacy and anti-Semitism, or any other doctrines that expose hate and elevate one group above another, have no place at Cal State San Marcos,” said CSUSM President Karen Haynes in a news release.“We strongly condemn language and actions that promote racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, violence, discrimination and other forms of hate. Sears is swinging the ax again. The struggling retailer announced plans to close another 46 Sears and Kmart stores.The company has already closed more than 100 stores this year -- including the last remaining Sears in its hometown of Chicago -- as it attempts to stem losses.Employees at 13 Kmart stores and 33 Sears stores were notified that their locations would close by November.When Sears and Kmart merged in 2005, they had about 3,500 US stores between them. About 900 US stores remain, and more closings are likely."We continue to evaluate our network of stores, which is a critical component to our integrated retail transformation, and will make further adjustments as needed," the company said in a statement.Liquidation sales at some of the stores will start as soon as August 30.Sears has lost .2 billion since 2010, its last profitable year and sales have plunged 60% in that time.The company has been looking at selling assets as a way to raise money. (KGTV) — Cameras caught a thief wreaking havoc at an East County business park, culminating in several destructive acts after he realized he was locked in.Scott Trafton has seen the video countless times, but his emotions have yet to lessen."Aggravating and makes me angry," said Trafton, who owns XP Builders.Just before midnight last Thursday night, a truck is seen driving into a business park on Wheatlands Court. The truck, believed to be a Chevy Silverado, is parked in the dark for more than four hours, before a man emerges and heads toward Trafton's general contractor business. In the video, the man grabs items from the truck bed, before prying open a toolbox in the back. A knife at this side, the man would get away with more than a thousand dollars with of Trafton's tools. "It hurts being a small business. Every penny counts," said Trafton.Trafton is not the only victim. The thief left behind a trail of shattered truck windows and missing items."Basically took whatever wasn't bolted down," said Trafton.When the man went to leave, he was met by a gate, locked by someone who had left earlier. The camera spies him apparently chaining his truck to the fence and pulling forward, but he can't get the fence down."He then came over to another truck and broke a window. He then took a moving blanket to protect his truck and drove to another fence," said Trafton.In the video, you can see the flash of his lights, before his final act."He ran into the fence, spread it wide open and knocked it over," said Trafton.The repair bill will tally some ,000.
