Former US President Jimmy Carter was hospitalized on Monday following a fall at his home in Georgia, according to a statement by the Carter Center. Carter, 94, had surgery to repair a broken hip as a result from the fall. He is said to be recovering, the statement read. Carter was leaving to go turkey hunting on Monday when the fall happened. Despite his advanced age, Carter has maintained an active schedule. He continues to hold Sunday School in Georgia, and visits Habitat for Humanity projects across the country. Carter has had some health issues in recent years. In 2015, he had a "small mass" removed from his liver. During his treatment for the liver, he was diagnosed with melanoma on his brain, and would undergo treatment. Just four months later, Carter declared that he was cancer free.In 2017 while at a Habitat for Humanity project in Canada, Carter was hospitalized for dehydrated while working under the hot sun. Going to college can be life changing. For many students, that means studying something they enjoy, getting a degree in that subject and then chasing the American dream. But for others, pursuing a higher education can turn into a nightmare “I just felt so bad for my parents,” said college student Annalise Hoerter. “I was like, ‘they just spent so much money on me and now I have to get it back.” Hoerter attended the now defunct The Art Institute of Colorado for three-and-a-half years studying photography. With just six months shy of graduating, the school lost its accreditation and closed – costing Hoerter big bucks and causing her a whole lot of headaches “Right now, I’m in the hole for ,000,” she said. “That was definitely a dark cloud over the school.” Stories like Hoerter’s popped up across the country as several for-profit schools either lost their accreditation or shut down completely In 2016, one of the largest for-profit schools on the country, ITT Technical Institute, shut its door for good – sending some of its students into a frenzy and leaving them with massive debt. “At first, we were able to provide outreach and personalized guidance to help students to see how they might be able to transition from a for-profit college to a state institution,” said Richard Curtis of Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. The public college was one of several schools to reach out to former ITT Tech students and help them continue their education. “Our program chairs and our faculty, they worked directly with the students to help them evaluate their background so that they could get onto a new pathway,” he said. Four people will face prosecution over the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, five years after the plane crashed in eastern Ukraine killing 298 people, international investigators said Wednesday.The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) said it would issue national and international arrest warrants Wednesday for the four suspects. Three Russians, Igor Girkin, Sergey Dubinskiy and Oleg Pulatov, were named, along with Ukrainian Leonid Kharchenko.According to investigators, Girkin is a former colonel of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), Dubinskiy was employed by Russia's military intelligence agency GRU and Pulatov was a former soldier of the Russian special forces, Spetsnaz-GRU.Ukraine's Kharchenko had no military background, but is believed to have led a combat unit in Donetsk in July 2014.Investigators said they would not ask for the suspects to be extradited because the Russian and Ukrainian constitution prohibits extraditing nationals.They added that they would ask Russia to cooperate with the investigation, and both countries to question the suspects about the charges.Flight MH17 was shot out of the sky over territory held by pro-Russian separatists as it flew from Amsterdam to the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur in July 2014.
