SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Navy official says three reported incidents depicting unidentified flying objects (UFOs), including one near San Diego in 2004, are real.Joseph Gradisher, spokesperson for the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Information Warfare, told The Black Vault, a website that investigates declassified government documents, the events shown in the three videos taken by Navy pilots depict "unexplained aerial phenomena" or "UAPs." Gradisher went on to say while the videos were declassified, they were never cleared for public release.The videos were posted for the public in December 2017 by the New York Times and To The Stars Academy of Arts and Sciences, a group that researches UFOs co-founded by the Poway native and former Blink 182 member Tom DeLonge.RELATED: Video shows UFO encounter off San Diego's coastGradisher told the The Black Vault the term UAP is used, "because it provides the basic descriptor for the sightings/observations of unauthorized/unidentified aircraft/objects that have been observed entering/operating in the airspace of various military-controlled training ranges."He added the Navy has not officially released any description of the incidents. The three videos, titled "FLIR1," "Gimbal," and "GoFast," show separate UAP incidents captured by Navy pilots. Navy Commander David Fravor told 10News he was piloting the FA-18 that captured the incident during a Navy training mission."I have never seen anything in my life that has the performance, the acceleration. Keep in mind this thing had no wings," Fravor said of the 2004 incident. “It's moving around, left, right, forward, back. The radar starts being jammed. All of a sudden it takes off."Several months later, "Gimbal" and "GoFast" were released. "GoFast" reportedly took place in 2015. It shows a camera and sensor aboard a Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet jet track a fast-moving object, before pilots lock onto it."Whoa, we got it!" exclaims one pilot. Another pilot asks, "Wow, what is that, man? Look at that flying!"The Navy's classification and timing couldn't be better for DeLonge, who is set to debut a new miniseries on the History Channel. The six-part series "Unidentified: Inside America's UFO Investigation" will feature DeLonge's interview with a former military intelligence official, Luis Elizondo, who confirmed the Pentagon's UFO program.The show will also feature interviews with other former government and aerospace officials and, "produce tangible evidence to build the most indisputable case for the existence and threat of UFOs." 2794

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Paradise Hills family is in search of a good Samaritan after a young autistic man was mugged and beaten for his brand new iPhone, just blocks from his home.The incident played out along Briarwood Road on an afternoon two weeks ago. Garrett De Leon had just gotten off work and off the bus.His pride and joy was in his right hand - a new iPhone 10 that his parents gave to him for his birthday. Deleon was texting his mom that he was blocks from home, when it happened."This guy came from behind me and snatched my phone and pushed me to the ground," said De Leon.De Leon says he fought back, the two struggling on the ground. "He pushed me again and runs to the car," said De Leon.Deleon says he chased the man - a tall, lean black man wearing a beanie - to an older black car, where the man jumped in the back seat, the window rolled down."He tells his buddy to take off immediately," said De Leon. In the meantime, the thief was hitting De Leon, who says he was delivering his own blows through the window."I had too much adrenaline and didn't feel pain. Hopped up on anger and determined to get at them and at the phone," said De Leon.After the car started up, it dragged De Leon some 100 feet before he was thrown off, bloodied with cuts and and scrapes, and a sprained hand.Soon after, a Hispanic woman in her 20s, with a baby in her back seat, raced to his side. She tended to him before calling 9-1-1."Shows there are good people. She was more worried about me than her baby," said De Leon.When help arrived and she left, De Leon never got her name. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A local casting director making it big in Hollywood after signing stars for a movie hitting theaters Friday.The movie, The Last Full Measure, is based on soldier William H. Pitsenbarger, Jr. who rescued more than 60 men during the Vietnam War. Casting Director Iris Hampton fell in love with the script the first time she read it, "I couldn't put it down, it was so beautiful." She was born and raised in San Diego in a military family and married a Marine Veteran, bringing the plot close to home.Hampton got into the business during a vacation to Hawaii. She said she went to the Magnum P.I. office and asked if they needed any help, "they said not right now, but why don't you come back in three months? So I came home, packed my bags and I went."Since then she's worked with big names like Chuck Norris and the Power Rangers. "I am going on my 28th and 29th season of that show," she said referring to the Power Rangers.Seven years ago she signed on to The Last Full Measure. The movie follows Pitsenbarger, Jr. during Operation Abilene in the Vietnam War. He descended from a helicopter while troops were under fire and rescued as many as he could, before he was killed.The film then follows the men who worked for decades to get Pitsenbarger, Jr. the Medal of Honor. "It ended up being 32 years they fought for him to get the medal of honor," she said."Pitts was a hero and a legend," Hampton said paratroopers idolize him.With a deep love and respect for the military, Hampton said this project is the pinnacle of her career.She signed stars like Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Irvine,Christopher Plummer, Ed Harris and the late Peter Fonda for the movie."I was just so proud and I am just so proud of each and every one of them," she said she can't wait for the movie to hit theaters so San Diegans can see it. 1856

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man whose car erupted into flames after crashing on the southbound I-805 Thursday morning is recovering after two passersby helped pull him to safety. Dashcam video from a nearby driver shows the moment the small white car suddenly veers to the right, slamming into a pick-up truck at Telegraph Canyon Road. Almost instantly smoke begins to rise from the hood, and then flames."When I saw the smoke we just ran over and saw we had to get him out. We unbuckled him out of the car, carried him out," said Tyrone Crawford. Crawford, a retired Customs and Border Protection officer and the friend he was with, a U.S. Marine, said they didn't hesitate to put their training into action. The two men were able to get the victim safely to the side of the highway, where first responders jumped in to start treating him. The man was alert and talking as he was wheeled into an ambulance.The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash, but all lanes of the SB I-805 were reopened by early afternoon. 1037

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A new court program in San Diego Juvenile Hall will help victims of sex trafficking find their way out of forced slavery.The RISE Court (Resiliency is Strength, Empowerment) will work with as many as 40 kids who have been victims in sex trafficking, giving them help to put their lives back together."We don't view them as an object to be used and abused," says District Attorney Summer Stephan. "We see them as whole human beings who need to be free to thrive in society."Many of the kids come to the court because they commit other crimes as part of their role in the sex trade. After they go through the criminal system, they fall right back into human trafficking because they have nowhere else to go. Sometimes, it's their pimp who is waiting to pick them up outside of Juvenile Hall .The court will work to find the underlying cause that drove the kids into human trafficking in the first place, and help them break the cycle."Some of them don't recognize themselves as victims or they don't see it as a problem or they don't think it's a big deal that they're involved in certain activities because they think it's normal," says Judge Carolyn Caietti, who will oversee the courtroom.Human sex trafficking is San Diego's 2nd largest underground economy, behind drug sales. A recent study by the University of San Diego estimates it brings in 0 million per year.Meanwhile, San Diego ranks in the top 13 of cities in the nation for human sex trafficking, according to the FBI.
