Pregnant women with COVID-19 face more possible risks, a new study has found. The study, which was published Tuesday in the British Medical Journal, revealed that pregnant women in the hospital with the virus are less likely to show symptoms but are more likely to be admitted to the intensive care unit. The researchers also stated that pregnant women are more likely to deliver preterm, and the newborns were more likely to be admitted to the neonatal unit."Other factors that increased the risk of severe COVID-19 in these women included being older, being overweight, and having pre-existing medical conditions such as hypertension or diabetes," researchers said. The study also stated that when compared with non-pregnant women of reproductive age, pregnant and recently pregnant women with COVID-19 were less likely to say they had a fever.Researchers said they analyzed 77 studies and looked at 11,432 pregnant women. The study, which was partially funded by the World Health Organization, was done by researchers in the United Kingdom, the US, Spain, China, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. 1103

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies in Polk County, Florida are on the hunt for the man who allegedly pushed a woman out of a moving vehicle at over 75 miles per hour.Deputies say Remond Brown, 44, and his girlfriend got into an argument at dinner because she was on Facebook.According to deputies, the argument continued while the two were driving back to Pinellas Park. They say things turned physical, and that Brown slapped and punched the victim, with a closed fist, multiple times on the face.Witnesses in other vehicles advised that the suspect vehicle was driving erratically westbound on Highway 60 in Lake Wales. That's when deputies say Brown reached over and opened the victim's door and pushed her out of the car while traveling at highway speeds, approximately 75-80 mph, per the witness accounts. Two witnesses stopped to helped the victim."Other travelers on the road stopped to help the victim, but not Remond," the Polk County Sheriff's office said on Facebook. "He did stop, but only to look back at the victim and yell, 'Blank this blank', before getting back into the car, and driving off. And no, 'blank' was not the word he used."Deputies said the victim was clearly distraught and made multiple statements to the witnesses that "he was going to kill me, he is going to kill me, don't leave me he will kill me." Brown left the scene in the victim's Black 2017 Honda Accord. The vehicle has a Florida license plate with tag number 717TDH. Brown is approximately 5-foot-4-inches tall and weighs roughly 170 pounds.Deputies say that there is a history of physical violence and Brown has a history of run-ins with the law, ranging from charges of grand theft to murder. The Polk County Sheriff's Office has issued a warrant for his arrest with charges of 2nd Degree Attempted Murder, Battery (Domestic Violence), Violation of an Injunction, and Grand Theft Motor Vehicle pending.  1948

President Donald Trump and Former Vice President Joe Biden are squaring off for the first presidential debate in Cleveland. But do debates make a difference when it comes to the actual result? DEBATE HISTORY The first presidential debate between general election candidates on television was in 1960. Immediately, there was an impact with viewers reporting they felt Richard Nixon looked ill compared to the young Sen. John F. Kennedy. Nixon elected to not wear makeup and often had a sweaty lip during much of the debate, while Kennedy wore makeup. The next presidential debate didn't happen until 1976 when sitting President Gerald Ford delivered the first major gaffe in a debate. Ford claimed, "there is no Soviet domination of Eastern Europe." At the time, all of Eastern Europe experienced some influence from the Soviet Union. Humor has often been used in debates as well. In 1984, President Ronald Reagan was criticized for his age during his reelection campaign. Reagan responded to the moderator's question by saying, "I want you to know that also I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent's youth and inexperience."IMPACT ON RESULTSHowever, since 1984, there are few examples of debates dramatically shaping the race. In every election, except 2000 and 2016, the candidate leading going into the debate ended up winning the presidency. As a result, more articles have been written like this in recent years: "Debates don't matter the way people think they do." 1549

POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) — A Poway woman is taking legal action against the city after she says she fell ill from drinking contaminated water. The city on Nov. 30 issued a precautionary boil advisory after residents reported brownish water coming from their faucets. Poway officials reported that a storm drain backed up into a clear well, and said they issued the boil advisory in an abundance of caution. The advisory lasted about a week and was lifted Dec. 6. Serino says she is hearing from other individuals who have fallen ill, and seeks to represent them, along with businesses who lost revenue. Serino, a Poway resident, said she herself and her two-year-old son were also sickened by the water. "Personally I felt ill after drinking the water, and my son, I had to take him to urgent care" Serino said. "So just in my own family, because we are Poway residents, I have two small children, it's affecting us as well and other people that we work with." A spokesman for the city says Poway is aware of the claim and processing it. 1316

President Donald Trump issued another round of pardons on Wednesday that included his former campaign manager and his son-in-law’s father. All told, Trump gave out 26 pardons on Wednesday on top of the 15 he issued on Tuesday.Notable pardons include former campaign manager Paul Manafort, former campaign adviser Roger Stone, and Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law Jared Kushner.Last year, Manafort was sentenced to 43 months in prison after being convicted on eight counts of tax and bank fraud. Manafort was released from federal prison earlier this year due to COVID-19 concerns.Stone, who previously had his sentence commuted by Trump, was convicted on witness tampering and obstruction charges stemming from Special Counsel Bob Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.Charles Kusnher was convicted in 2004 for tax evasion, illegal campaign contributions and witness tampering. Kushner was prosecuted by Chris Christie, who is a supporter of Trump’s.“I mean it’s one of the most loathsome, disgusting crimes that I prosecuted when I was US attorney. And I was a US attorney in New Jersey, Margaret, so we had some loathsome and disgusting crime going on there,” Christie said last year in an interview with PBS’ Margaret Hoover. The practice of issuing controversial pardons in the final days and week in office is not uncommon. For instance, in 2017, President Barack Obama's pardon of Chelsea Manning and Bill Clinton's 2001 pardon of his half brother Roger Clinton were debated at the time. 1546
