BEIJING, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Most parts of China saw limited rainfall through Saturday as people could get view of a bright full moon in clear meteorological conditions at the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival. Only the southwestern and part of the northwestern regions saw some rainfalls, but starting Sunday, weather in those regions will also clear up for the locals to get view of the full moon, according to China Meteorological Administration. In the coming three days, parts of the northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region expect a weak rainfall with strong wind. Temperature will drop 4-8 degrees Celsius after the cold front moves over the region. Meanwhile, parts of the northeastern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Heilongjiang Province will also see some weak rainfalls in the next three days. The Administration also warns of twin typhoons Parma and Melor churning in the Pacific Ocean. Typhoon Parma which now is bearing down on the Philippines expects to bring gales and major rainfalls along China's southeastern regions in its course during the coming three days.

BEIJING, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Local governments should lay stress on economy restructuring and innovation to guarantee the long-term stable and relatively fast economic growth, said Li Keqiang, Chinese Vice Premier. Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang (L) talks with a farmer in Taihe County, east China's Jiangxi Province, Sept. 24, 2009. Li made a inspection and research tour to east China's Jiangxi Province from Sept. 24 to 26"The world economy is undergoing profound changes and transition. We should base ourselves on the current realities and be more forward-looking and broad-minded," He said. Li added that China should push forward the deepening of reforms and strategic economy restructuring while maintaining the relatively fast economic growth. China's economy expanded by 7.9 percent from a year ago in the second quarter this year, faster than the 6.1 percent in the first quarter, which was the worst quarterly growth in a decade, dampened by a slump in exports. Li urged provinces in the central region to give a full play to their growth potential and advantages, take on the development opportunities of strategic importance, improve the quality of economic growth and achieve remarkable economic progress through reforms, innovation and industrial upgrading. Central China provinces should endeavor to achieve remarkable economic advancement by 2015, according to a plan passed Wednesday by the State Council, the Cabinet. The central areas include Shanxi, Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei and Hunan provinces. BEIJING, Sept. 9 (Xinhua)-- China and the European Union (EU) should properly cope with trade frictions, and push forward economic and trade cooperation, Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan said here Wednesday. Wang was meeting with EU Trade Commissioner Catherine Ashton, who is on her first visit to China. "China and the EU should appropriately handle trade frictions, and fight resolutely against trade protectionism," he said. Since late July, the EU has launched a series of anti-dumping actions against Chinese products, covering steel wire rod, seamless steel tubes, sodium gluconate, steel cables and aluminum road wheels. "Some of China's major trading partners have shown signs of protectionism during the global financial crisis, and there has been rising trade protectionism inside the EU," said Sun Yongfu, who is department chief in charge of European affairs of Chinese Commerce Ministry. Vice premier Wang said the two sides' top priorities at the present time should be making efforts to continuously further coordination and cooperation, jointly tiding over the global financial crisis, and facilitating the recovery of regional and international economy. Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan (1st R) meets with European Union (EU) Trade Commissioner Catherine Ashton (1st L) in Beijing, capital of China, Sept. 9, 2009. Wang also urged the EU to recognize China's status as a market economy at an early date. The EU would like to adopt a pragmatic attitude in solving problems in bilateral trade and investment, and create a favorable environment for deepening economic and trade cooperation with China, said Ashton during the meeting. In Ashton's speech at the University of International Business and Economics earlier Wednesday, she called for the EU and China to "work on outstanding issues" in order to strengthen trade relations, the European Commission said in a press release on its website. Ashton, who began the visit on Sept. 6, said during the meeting that she was glad to see what was happening in China with her own eyes. In May, Ashton and Wang held talks in Brussels as co-chairs of the EU-China High Level Economic and Trade Dialogue, which set the strategic direction for the bilateral economic relationship and identified challenges and opportunities. Currently, China and the EU are one of the most important trade partners to each other. Bilateral trade volume reached 425.6 billion U.S. dollars in 2008. During her visit, Ashton was scheduled to meet with Chinese Commerce Minister Chen Deming and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, and attend the 13th China International Fair for Investment and Trade in Xiamen city of southeast Fujian Province.
