SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Gas prices in Southern California could reach .30 per gallon in the next several weeks, according to a GasBuddy. The company’s senior petroleum analyst, Patrick DeHaan, took to Twitter to announce that prices could soar to .15 to .30 per gallon in the next 10 to 14 days. According to DeHaan, the average price per gallon reached .85 in Los Angeles Wednesday afternoon and is expected to “breach in the next few days.”DeHaan tweeted out earlier Wednesday that prices in Southern California could spike by anywhere between 25 and 40 cents per gallon in the coming days. The news comes amid problems at several California refineries and just weeks after attacks on oil fields in Saudi Arabia. Several of the refinery issues include unplanned work at PBF refinery in Torrance, an outage at Chevron’s Segundo refinery, a flaring event at Valero Benicia and Marathon’s LA refinery, DeHaan says. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — From California to Maine, breweries across the country are stepping up to help California fire victims. The effort started with the Sierra Nevada brewery. While their facility was spared by the Camp Fire, communities around it were devastated.Sierra Nevada founder Ken Grossman reached out to fellow brewers to join him in the disaster relief effort, making their ‘Resilience Butte County Proud IPA’ recipe available to those who want to help. The brewery is asking that 100 percent of profits go to fire relief efforts. So far over 1,200 breweries have pledged to make and sell the beer.“I’ve never seen anything on this scale,” said Jim Millea, brewmaster at OB Brewery. “That’s a lot of beer being made for a good cause, it’s pretty sweet!”Millea says he didn’t hesitate to join the effort.“Who wouldn’t want to be a part of a good cause?” said Millea. He’s one of many in the San Diego region who will be brewing Resilience IPA. Millea hopes to have his on tap at the OB Brewery in a few weeks. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Families across the San Diego region are continuing to battle record high home prices and rents. But there are now several plans in the works to boost supply - and hopefully bring prices down."There's no magic bullet, no magic wand," said Rick Gentry, who heads the San Diego Housing Commission. "I don't see there's one solution. There are a host of solutions that we can bring to bear that over time will reduce the problem."Jimmy Ayala, who heads Pardee Homes of San Diego, says the biggest change that could lower prices is reducing the time it takes to get permits. He says builders can work impact fees into their budgets, but over-regulation and delays from community opposition adds costs to projects that cause some developers to shy away.FULL COVERAGE: Making It in San Diego"If you start on this day and perhaps you end on a more certain date, then more people would enter the industry, more people would enter the market, we'd eventually get more homes," Ayala said, noting that Pardee's 415-home master plan community in Santee called Weston took 10 years for approvals.Local and state governments appear to be on board. The city of San Diego is now offering density bonuses and streamlined review for some projects. It also is encouraging builders add more, smaller units in the same building, with less parking requirements. The county is exploring other options to reduce hurdles to development. That, however, is adding to some San Diego neighborhood group concerns about overdevelopment."My group and my associates just want to see it remain a nice place to live," said Tom Mullaney, who heads Uptown United. "We think we can do that with lots of new development and lots of new housing, but we can't do it if our city government is going to throw out the rule book."Additionally, the San Diego Housing Commission is now able to help finance apartment projects with units for middle income earners, according to a new state law."The challenge for us is how do we develop lower than market rate product for this new customer base without taking away from the customer base that we've traditionally served," Gentry said, noting turnover has dropped drastically at its 3,400 affordable apartments in San Diego.Mark Goldman, a real estate lecturer at San Diego State University, said it would take decades to really balance out supply and demand. But he said any assurances could ease risk for developers who may not want to get involved."You don't know when you're going to get that potential profit dollar," he said. "So yes, time is money." 2622

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Del Mar may be the county's smallest city, but it has no shortage of workers commuting in every day to serve its residents and tourists. They're coming from as far away as Oceanside, La mesa, and Rancho Penasquitos. It's because the city - with a median home price of .7 million - has no affordable housing. "If they could live here and walk to work we'd get all kinds of benefits from that," said Del Mar Mayor Dwight Worden. To help make that happen, Del Mar may start charging developers of condos and condo conversions fees by the square foot. That could add to more than a hundred thousand dollars per project for affordable housing. Right now developers of those projects pay a flat fee of ,500, which hasn't been updated since 2007.The city council is considering a per square foot charge for existing construction and per square foot for new construction. The money would either go to expanding Del Mar's rent subsidy program, which currently assists five families in the city.Worden, however, said he prefers physical units because they are there forever. Del Mar currently has no affordable housing units, but the state requires it to have about 70. Worden said two currently proposed developments would include units, but he also would like the city to use the extra money to apply for federal and state grants. He also floated the idea of Del Mar buying an apartment building, converting them to condos, selling a portion of them to recoup its investment, and keeping some for low-income workers. 1571

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- For the first time since an accident that nearly took her life, Korren Grada is speaking out. Her hope is to save others from suffering the same fate. Two hit-and-run drivers ran into Grada, leaving her to die. She tells 10News - it all started with a blind date in 2017.  310
