A former business partner of former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn was charged with trying to influence US politicians to seek the extradition of a Turkish cleric, according to an indictment filed in the Eastern District of Virginia.Bijan Rafiekian and a Dutch-Turkish businessman Kamil Alptekin are charged with conspiracy and acting as an agent of a foreign government. A federal judge has reportedly thrown out President Trump’s latest effort to block the Manhattan district attorney from subpoenaing his financial records, according to multiple outlets.President Trump’s lawyers made their final arguments to block the prosecutor from getting his tax records on August 10. U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero issued his ruling Thursday.The same judge refused to throw out the subpoena last year. Then this summer, the U.S. Supreme Court essentially upheld his decision when they returned the case to the lower level, saying Trump’s lawyers were entitled to challenge the subpoena in the same manner as anyone else.District Attorney Cyrus Vance says his investigation into Trump’s business practices is entitled to extensive records to aid a “complex financial investigation” and they cited in their papers public reports of “extensive and protracted criminal conduct at the Trump Organization.” He is seeking eight years of Trump’s personal and business tax returns. 1005

A brawl broke out during a sentencing Wednesday afternoon of a former daycare owner accused of reckless homicide in the death of a 7-week-old baby in her care.37-year-old Claudette Mitchell was being sentenced for charges related to the death of a 2-month-old child that died while in Mitchell's care last August at "WHO'S LUVIN YOU" daycare. Mitchell ran the daycare out of her home on Milwaukee's northside. A criminal complaint says Mitchell told police she put the baby down for a nap and when she checked on her about an hour later she was unresponsive and had scratches and blood on her face. Court documents show the baby suffered multiple fractures to her skull and bruising all over her body. Forensic investigators believe the baby died of blunt force trauma to the head.  Mitchell received a sentence of 42 months, and upon release, 48 months of supervision. Following the sentencing, an altercation broke out between 50 members of Mitchell's and the victim's families and friends according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.Additional deputies and district attorney investigators were called to the room to restore order. Authorities say additional security had been in place prior to the altercation but Mitchell's loved ones did not comply with deputies’ orders to remain in the courtroom while the victim’s family was being escorted out. 1407

A faulty engine part that could cause vehicles to stall has led to a recall of 400,000 worldwide.The recall affects Toyota Motor Corp. and Subaru Corp., MarketWatch reports. About 80,000 of the 400,000 are Toyotas.Subaru is recalling some of its most popular models, such as the Forester sport-utility vehicle and Impreza and BRZ sports car. Toyota is recalling the Subaru-made 86 and Scion FR-S sports car, MarketWatch said.The automakers announced springs in the engine valve could fracture. That would cause the vehicles to stall and possibly lead to an accident.Earlier in October, Toyota recalled approximately 2.4 million vehicles worldwide due to a problem in which the cars may not enter a fail-safe driving mode as intended, which can cause the vehicle to lose power and stall. About 807,000 of those vehicles are in the United States. If this happens while driving at higher speeds, it could cause a crash. The recall affects 2010-2014 model year Toyota Prius and 2012-2014 Prius v vehicles.There was a second recall involving certain 2018-2019 Tundra and Sequoia vehicles and 2019 Avalon vehicles. About 168,000 vehicles sold in the United States are affected by this recall, which is due to a programming problem in the airbag electronic control unit (ECU) that could disable one or more of the sensors used to detect crashes, possibly causing the side and curtain shield airbags and/or front and knee airbags to not deploy as intended.  1502

The smaller “bluestones” near the center of the circular monument have been traced to an area in Wales, about 200 km away, in an earlier study.Geologists used geochemical data from the sarsens and compared it to the geochemical signature of different regions.“From this, we identify West Woods, Wiltshire, 25 km (roughly 15.5 miles) north of Stonehenge, as the most probable source area for the majority of sarsens at the monument,” researchers stated in their study.The sarsens were erected during the mid-third millennium BCE, and weigh roughly 20 metric tons. Only 52 of the original about 80 sarsen stones remain. 888
