MISSION BEACH (CNS) - A man robbed a Subway sandwich shop in Mission Beach Saturday afternoon, police said.Police were told a little before 1 p.m. that a man in his 30s had walked into a the Subway on West Mission Bay Drive near Mission Boulevard and threatened the clerk, San Diego Police Officer Sarah Foster said.The man "simulated" having a weapon in his pocked and demanded money, Foster said. The clerk complied and the man left the business on foot. He was last seen heading north away from the store.The suspect was described only as a man in his 30s, according to Foster. A man was wanted in a similar robbery of a Subway last Sunday, though detectives weren't available for comment on whether the two cases were related.The robber in the Sunday case was also described as a man in his 30s and reportedly simulated having a gun in his waistband. That same suspect was wanted for two other robberies of Game Stop stores, one on Sunday and the other on Wednesday, Dec. 19. 987

MILWAUKEE -- Six cars were damaged Friday when light poles fell across traffic lanes on I-43 near Milwaukee.According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, the driver of a red pick-up truck heading northbound hit both of the light poles in the median just before 3:30 p.m. A witness at a law firm off Hampton Avenue said she saw the truck drive up onto the median and hit one pole, before continuing on to hit a second. "Unfortunately one of them kind of struck the side of the car, put a hole in the door, took a mirror out," said Jim Lovering, whose daughter called him after swerving to avoid the two poles.Lovering's 7-month-old grandson was also in the car. "Just missed the windshield, which was a blessing," said Lovering. The camera caught deputies taking away the driver of the red truck in handcuffs. Authorities have not yet released any information confirming an arrest, or possible charges. The accident caused backups for miles during rush hour, as crews worked to remove the poles from the roadway. No one in any of the cars was injured. "It was just nice that she had the space to maneuver and without hitting anybody else or causing any further damage," said Lovering. "It could be potentially you know a serious accident. Thank God it didn't happen."  1341

(AP) — A Southern California school district will pay million to the parents of a 13-year-old boy who drowned in a high school pool.A lawsuit settlement between the family of Alex Pierce and the Murrieta Valley Unified High School District was announced Tuesday.Alex was at a 2016 pool party at Vista Murrieta High School when he got into trouble and was underwater for several minutes.Classmates pulled him out but the student lifeguards didn't perform CPR. The comatose teen was removed from life support a month later.The lawsuit said the school district lacked proper safety policies.The district didn't acknowledge any wrongdoing but agreed to change its safety plan and train all faculty in CPR. MINNEAPOLIS — Police say a man captured on surveillance video breaking windows at a south Minneapolis auto parts store in the days after George Floyd’s death is a Hell’s Angels member who was bent on stirring up social unrest.The man, seen in all black and carrying an umbrella, was dubbed “Umbrella Man” by many on social media.The video showed the man breaking windows at an Auto Zone near where Floyd died. Police say up until that point, the protests in the area had been peaceful.Soon after the windows were broken, the Auto Zone was set on fire — the first of several buildings in the area that were burned during riots. "The actions of this person created an atmosphere of hostility and tension.
