SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — With bars that don’t serve food shut down as of Wednesday, some employees may be finding themselves in need of unemployment benefits just days after they stopped collecting them.Some San Diego County bars got just 19 days to operate before they were shuttered again, but that’s plenty of time for employees to have their unemployment benefits lapse.The good news is that individuals don’t have to start entirely from square one.REBOUND: Search for job openings in San Diego County “It should be less time-consuming this go around,” said Andrew Picard with the San Diego Workforce Partnership, a local non-profit agency that supports job-seekers with training, but is not in charge of processing unemployment benefits.It turns out, if you stop certifying for unemployment benefits for even one week, your claim goes inactive and must be reopened.The state suggests reopening a claim on UI Online, which can be done at any time. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Two San Diego nursing homes are now dealing with positive cases of COVID-19. La Vida Real, an assisted living center in Rancho San Diego, confirmed to 10News that four of its staff members have tested positive for coronavirus.The facility is one of 32 owned by the Senior Resource Group. It’s the second local assisted living center to be hit with COVID-19. This Wednesday, San Diego County officials confirmed to 10News a positive case at Stellar Care Center, just south of the College Area. Across the country, concerns over the spread of the virus in nursing homes keeps growing: In Kirkland, Washington, an outbreak at the Life Care assisted living center lead to at least 35 reported deaths. In Louisiana, eleven deaths have now been linked to a retirement community out of New Orleans. In Mount Laurel, New Jersey, three patients at a nursing home have now died after testing positive.La Vida Real issued a statement to 10News, detailing how the company is handling the coronavirus cases:"La Vida Real has communicated with residents and their families, and is in close contact with San Diego County health officials, after learning that four staff members in our assisted living and memory care building tested positive for COVID-19. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Uber will remove all rental bikes and scooters from San Diego next week, the company said Thursday. The rideshare company, which expanded into rentals, will cease its two-wheeled operations Sept. 19. Uber will continue to operate in partnership with Naval Base San Diego and Naval Base Point Loma. “We agree with local elected officials in San Diego who’ve said current micromobility regulations foster an unsustainable operating environment, which is why we’re ending our operations as of today. We look forward to working with the city to develop more sensible regulations,” a company spokesperson told 10News. "This is simply a market correction in an oversaturated industry that jeopardizes the safety of San Diegans and visitors. I continue to call for a moratorium on electric scooters until we develop a fiscally responsible and well thought-out plan that priorities public and environmental safety," said City Councilwoman Barbara Bry.In May, the San Diego City Council implemented new regulations for dockless scooters as a way to increase public safety while also allowing the companies to stay in San Diego. Companies were required to pay a permit fee of about ,000 every six months, create corrals, and enforce a speed limit as low as 3 miles per hour in certain areas. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - 10News got an exclusive interview with the young San Diego man who says a local ICE agent pointed a gun at his head before being arrested, in part, for driving under the influence.“I’m 20 years-old and for him to pull a gun on me just for test-riding my motorcycle on the street is definitely not okay,” says Jonathan Levenson.A spokesperson for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirms ICE Agent Ed Zuchelli is on administrative leave while officers investigate a criminal matter.San Diego police confirm the incident happened on February 16th on Blue Lake Drive in the community around Lake Murray.Levenson says he was test-riding his dirt bike on his street when he saw the agent walk into the middle of the street to block him.“He had it pointed at me at a ‘shooter’s position’. That’s when I knew it was definitely a gun,” he tells us of the agent, who is his neighbor. “When he first came up to me I could smell some beer on his breath but nothing too strong,” he adds.Levenson says he rode around the agent, but the agent got into his vehicle and followed. “He turned on his lights and sirens and started yelling at me through his microphone. [He was] telling me he was a federal agent and not to mess with him,” says Levenson.Levenson adds that the agent showed him his federal ID badge.SDPD confirms Zuchelli was in a government-issued vehicle at the time of arrest.Police say he was arrested for alleged DUI, showing a weapon and making threats.
