Duncan Hunter’s attorney to the United States Deputy Attorney General discussed possible evidence of extramarital infidelity and excessive drinking.On August 6, Hunter attorney Gregory A. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A rash of mail tampering incidents has led to missing money and an unusual M.O.On Winnebago Avenue in late June, Kelly Craig was standing in front of her home talking to a neighbor."Around 10:30 a.m., the mail carrier dropped off the mail in front of me," said Craig.A few minutes later, Craig got her mail and noticed something. One of her envelopes was sliced open on the side. "Looks like a razor blade slit the side," said Craig.Inside, she found a birthday card from her mother, mailed from Montana. The usual money was not there. A call to mom revealed 0 in cash should have been inside."Felt panicked and really sad the money was missing, and my mom was really upset," said Craig.Craig wasn't alone. That same day, less than two miles away, her daughter-in-law went to get her mail."She got a wedding card from my sister, and it had cash in it as well," said Craig.The 0 that was inside was gone. That envelope was also sliced open on the left side, but there was one difference. The side and back of the enveloped were resealed with tape."Clearly trying to cover up their stealing of the money," said Craig.When Craig and her daughter-in-law reported it to postal authorities, they say they were told of similar recent incidents, including one if the College Area. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego family just got bigger thanks to results from a recently taken DNA test.Sita Brooke and her brother, Odie, met their sister Eva Knight for the first time Friday. Brooke's father, Jim, was also on hand to meet his daughter.Brooke told 10News she purchased a DNA kit from Ancestry.com for her parents last Christmas to learn more about her family's origins. Knight, from Arizona, had also taken a DNA test recently.A parental match popped up for both of them.Brooke's dad served for 33 years in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Trinidad at one point, where he met Knight's mother. And the sister's have even more in common. Knight is also originally from San Diego before moving to Arizona.The family members are now enjoying their newly discovered connections. 800

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A new program in San Diego County aims to keep elementary school children from falling behind during the summer months.Created by United Way of San Diego County, "Readers in the Heights" Literacy Summer Camp is a free program for families.Advocates say students who aren't reading at grade level by third grade are four times more likely not to graduate high school."This is indicative of how well they will do throughout high school, how much their earning potential will be as they mature into adults," said Ian Gordon, Chief Impact Officer. "This is really ground zero, if you will, for ensuring they do excel throughout life."In its third year now, the Readers in the Heights went from serving 40 children to now over 300. 758

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man was arrested after deputies say he intentionally drove onto a sidewalk outside an Encinitas bar, seriously injuring several people. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened on the 500 block of South Coast Highway 101 around 1:20 a.m. Deputies say the man, later identified as Christian Davis, 28, was asked to leave The Saloon Bar because he was too intoxicated. RELATED: Man dies following attack in Vista; suspects at-largeAfter leaving the bar, deputies say Davis got into his rental U-Haul van and intentionally drove it onto the sidewalk, hitting three people. One of the victims was taken to Palomar Medical Center while two others were taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital all with serious injuries. Davis was detained by witnesses at the bar before being taken into custody by deputies. Two of the witnesses were injured while detaining Davis and were taken to Scripps Encinitas hospital with minor injuries. The suspect is facing four felony charges including three of attempted first-degree murder and one of attempted escape with force. Davis is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.
