SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 19-year-old man was hospitalized Saturday morning with nine stab wounds suffered in a fight with another man in the Egger Highlands area of San Diego.Just before midnight Friday, the victim and the suspect got into a shouting match while standing in the doorway of the suspect's house in the 1700 block of Elm Avenue, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.The argument turned physical and the victim thought he was being punched, but it turned out he was being stabbed, Heims said. The victim was stabbed in both arms, the chest and stomach.He was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening wounds, Heims said.Officers responded to the suspect's home and arrested Homero Lunaosuna, 19, and recovered the knife used in the attack, Heims said. 809

SALEM, Idaho -- A neighbor who lives across the street from Chad Daybell is describing what he saw in the months after two children went missing. The remains of those children were discovered on Daybell's property.Family members confirmed the remains recovered by Rexburg police and the FBI belong to Joshua JJ Vallow and Tylee Ryan. JJ would have recently turned 8 years old, and Tylee was 17.Both disappeared at different times from Rexburg, Idaho, last September.Matthew Price said he's lived across the street from Chad Daybell, the entire time Chad and his family have lived in Idaho. He's been following the investigation into the missing children, and the suspicions that centered on his neighbor."We've been very concerned the whole time for JJ and Tylee," Matthew said.He watched out his windows and from his yard as law enforcement spent two days digging in Chad's yard, and searching the property.Matthew recognized the area where investigators brought in a backhoe to dig a deep hole, where it appears they recovered the children's remains.Now that he thinks back, he is remembering some incidents that stand out in that exact spot."We noticed they were having a few bonfires that were kind of out of the ordinary," he explained. "They had a big bonfire last fall, and they had two or three big bonfires this spring."Last fall, no one knew about the disappearance of JJ and Tylee. Matthew described that things seemed okay, aside from the bonfires, but that he did have one weird interaction with Chad.He said Chad and his late wife, Tammy Daybell, came over to his house to buy pumpkins."He was strange, he was different," Matthew described. "He didn't talk a lot, didn't make eye contact with us very much. Normally he would."Matthew said it was very out of character, but he figured Chad was having a bad day. He said Tammy died a week later.Eventually, Matthew learned about the search for JJ and Tylee, and the investigation into Chad Daybell and his new wife Lori Vallow Daybell, JJ and Tylee's mother.After Lori ended up in jail in nearby Madison County, Chad returned to his Salem home. Matt recalled that Chad kept to himself for the last couple of months, barely leaving the house.He said when Chad did leave the house, it was late at night.Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. Matthew was standing outside when he said he saw a convoy of law enforcement coming down the road to serve a search warrant. They surrounded the home, he said, and made all of Chad's adult children leave the house. Chad also left, but Matthew said Chad sat in his car for hours. Then suddenly, Matthew saw Chad try to leave."I saw his car take off down the road headed south towards Rexburg," Matthew said. "Just seconds later, the marked police cars had their lights and sirens, and floored it to go catch him."Now, Matthew's neighbor of several years is in jail, and police have made a devastating discovery right across the street from Matthew's home.Wednesday evening, police turned the home back over to the adult Daybell children. They were seen packing up and moving furniture out of the home, loading it onto a trailer and into truck beds. SAN BERNARDINO (KGTV) -- Park View's Green Monsters sprayed the toasty San Bernardino sky with a barrage of home runs on their way to a convincing victory Sunday night in the first round of the Little League West Regional baseball tournament at Houghton Stadium.The Southern California squad from Chula Vista powered their way to a win with a grand slam and a pair of back-to-back jacks from their two biggest bats in their rout over the Northern California champion Tri-City Little League team out of Rocklin, Calif., 16-8.The opening round match up saw the Green Monsters fall behind early in the bottom of the first on a long ball when Tri-City's Nathan Erickson cracked a low drive off Kainoa Baptista that hooked over the 225 marker just inside the left field foul pole.After hitting Aiden Weissenberg-Frost on a pitch then allowing him to advance to second on a passed ball, Baptista gave up a single to Adam Van Der Kamp that brought in Weissenberg-Frost giving Northern California a 2-0 lead.Weissenberg-Frost, whose recent no-hitter helped put TCLL into the West Region tournament, continued his dominance on the mound Sunday night.  The 5-foot-9, 170-pound right-hander relied on his searing 75 mph fastball to record his fourth and fifth strikeouts of the game in the second inning. According to announcers broadcasting the game on ESPN Plus, Weissenberg-Frost's fastball is equivalent to a mid-90s fastball in the Major Leagues.The Green Monsters struggled to locate Weissenberg-Frost's heat, but it was on his 40th pitch of the game in the second inning that saw PVLL get on the scoreboard.PVLL's Atticus Gates lined a 3-1 fastball over second base that got past center fielder Trajan Rogowski allowing Conner Alonzo to score from first base to narrow TCLL's lead, 2-1.Matthew Bjornstad took the mound for Baptista in the bottom of the second inning and turned in a commanding performance striking out all three TCLL batters he faced on 15 pitches.With Weissenberg-Frost still throwing 70 mph darts, Michael Rodriguez, a 5-foot-11, 160-pound right-hander, blasted a 1-2 fastball over left-center into a row of tents several feet behind the wall giving PVLL a 3-2 lead.TCLL's Tanner Dykstra came on to replace Weissenberg-Frost (59 pitches, 6Ks, 3 runs) only to face the Green Monster's cleanup hitter Jose Mendoza.Mendoza, a 6-foot, 193-pound center fielder, crushed Dykstra's first pitch into the souvenir shack beyond the right field wall.  Rodriguez and Mendoza's back-to-back big flies put PVLL up 4-2.Weissenberg-Frost's night on the mound may have been finished, but his bat wasn't done.  With two outs in the bottom of the third, the pitcher-slash-power hitter stopped Bjornstad's streak of five consecutive outs with a homer of his own.  Weissenberg-Frost struck a moon shot over the scoreboard in the left field gallery to cut PVLL's lead, 4-3.PVLL would go on to race around the bases in the top of the fourth led by a second round of back-to-back homers from Rodriguez and Mendoza, giving the SoCal Champs an 8-3 lead.Northern California got help in the bottom of the 4th inning after Rodriguez, who took over pitching duties, walked in a couple of runs to make the score 9-5. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 33-year-old man was in custody this morning on suspicion of trying to carjack a man in the Talmadge area.The victim was driving in the area of Euclid Avenue and El Cajon Boulevard around 2 p.m. Friday when the suspect grabbed onto the victim's vehicle and was able to get the passenger door open, Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department said.The suspect, identified as Christopher Gomez, got inside and began hitting the victim and asking for the vehicle, Heims said.The victim drove to a parking lot and got Gomez out of the vehicle. Gomez was later arrested, according to Heims.It was unclear whether the driver sustained any injuries. 681
