SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A judge decided Friday to place a sexually violent predator in the East County community of Boulevard. Michael Joseph Martinez, 64 has multiple previous convictions including child molestation and lewd and lascivious acts upon a child under 14, according to County Supervisor Dianne Jacob’s office.The judge added Friday that the sheriff’s department will be extra vigilant and security will be heightened.The judge decided to place Martinez at the Department of State Hospitals recommended location of 2135 McCain Valley Road. The schools closest to the address include Clover Flats Elementary School and Jacumba Elementary School, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.A mother of one of the victims from 25 years ago spoke at the hearing saying, “I know that you can’t change the order and I’m glad that there’s going to be very strict ordering, but I hope this doesn’t happen to another child or family.”RELATED: Dianne Jacob slams proposed placement of predatorJacob said the placement would put public safety at risk. She adds that several sexually violent predators have been placed in East County in recent years and in some cases, the convicts ended up violating the conditions of their placement.In a letter to Judge David M. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A man involved in a reported domestic violence incident in City Heights early Wednesday morning made his way onto the roof of a building and refused to come down, prompting a standoff with San Diego police.According to SDPD officials, officers responded to a domestic violence-related call at around 2:30 a.m. at a home in the 4100 block of Wilson Avenue. Police say the incident involved a man and his girlfriend, and the man allegedly destroyed a phone line or cell phone.When officers arrived, they spotted the man in the incident and tried to get him to surrender, but he ran away.With police in pursuit, the man climbed onto the roof of a home on 35th Street. Officers surrounded the home, but when police placed a ladder for the man to come down, he grabbed the ladder and pulled it onto the roof with him.The man used the ladder to help him cross onto the roof of a two-story apartment building in the 4000 block of 35th Street.As police negotiators tried to get the man to come down, he reportedly threatened officers with makeshift weapons and threw objects at emergency responders.After nearly 19 hours, the man was taken into custody just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night. 1211

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man is searching for the good Samaritan who pulled him from a rip current in La Jolla this week.Patrick Fitzpatrick was swimming at Windansea Beach Tuesday."It took a snap second before I was in control to completely out of control," Fitzpatrick recalled, after becoming caught in a rip current. "There was no way on Earth that I was going to live from this. I was in a panic. I couldn't use my arms and legs now."Someone on shore, only known as "Dustin," noticed Fitzpatrick struggling and swam out to help him."He's a guardian angel. He owe him my life, he saved my life," Fitzpatrick says.Dustin swam out and kept Fitzpatrick calm before more help could arrive and get him to shore.Fitzpatrick is hoping to reunite with his mystery rescuer to say thank you."The humanity that comes from an act of kindness like this, from a perfect stranger," Fitzpatrick said. 892
