Deputies arrested a Palm Beach County bookkeeper Saturday on accusations of stealing money from her employer to pay for a new vehicle.Erma Rios, 26, of suburban West Palm Beach, wrote and signed company checks to purchase a Land Rover from a dealership, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report.Rios’ boss reported more than ,000 missing from the bank account of his Palm Beach Gardens business in January 2017.Bank records show Rios, a bookkeeper at the business, allegedly wrote out two checks to a used car dealership in December 2016.The first check written out by Rios was a ,000 down payment addressed to the used car dealership for a 2011 Land Rover, an arrest report states. The second check was written out a few weeks later as a final payment to the car dealership for ,000.Deputies interviewing a car salesman report him saying he sold the vehicle to Rios. He said she wrote and signed the checks, and then presented them to his as payment, he said in the report.Court records show a warrant for Rios arrest was signed in April 2017.One year later, she was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. DEL MAR, San Diego (KGTV)— Dozens of people gathered in front of the Del Mar Fairgrounds Saturday to protest a popular gun show.The weekend after yet another mass school shooting in Santa Fe Texas, the Del Mar Fairgrounds is hosting the Crossroads of the West Gun show. The show has been in Del Mar for many years.While show-goers drove into the parking lot, protestors yelled into the megaphone, “Stop the bloodshed. Close the Gunshow!”Del Mar Mayor, Dwight Worden joined protestors. “Why are we doing this when the community doesn’t want it?“ he asked. Worden has been credited for updating local zoning ordinances, which now ban gun shops, gun shows, or firing weapons in the city of Del Mar.But despite the name, the Del Mar Fairgrounds is owned by the state, so city zoning rules do not apply.It is governed by a Fair Board, which chooses what events they host a year in advance.“Were doing is this kind of demonstration of community concern and we’re working with the Fair Board and state legislature to see if we can change the rules and if not eliminate the gunshots, at least cut back the number,” Mayor Worden said. 10News was filming the protest, when an unrelated cyclist found an in-tact bullet being run over by cars on Via De La Valle.“It’s not a war zone. You don’t need to have ammunition out here on the street,” the cyclist said. Protestors said this is exactly why guns do not need to be in their neighborhood.Across the street, we met gun rights advocates advertising for the show.“It’s like a hobby shop for gun owners,” Nicholas Mielke said. He is an Armorer at Firearms Unknown. “We do enjoy it. It’s a passion of ours.” Mielke said he does not agree with his passion being taken away from him.“People who do serious crimes with other object, I don’t see us banning them either,” Mielke said. “I am a proponent of our constitutional rights. The first amendment is something that I totally respect them for that. At the same time, I don’t have to agree with them either.”The city does get sales tax from items sold at the gun show. But the mayor said he is willing to give that up, if it means having fewer guns on the street.The gun show is on the agenda for the September Fair Board meeting, at which they could take action to discontinue them, after the contracts expire.  2341

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds has signed an executive order granting convicted felons the right to vote, ending Iowa’s place as the only remaining state to broadly deny voting rights to felons.The Republican governor signed the order Wednesday after promising in June that she would take such action.Reynolds says she’ll continue to press the Legislature to pass a constitutional amendment restoring felon voting rights, which couldn't be reversed by a future governor. She proposed that last year but couldn’t get Republican state senators to support it.The executive order restores the right to vote for Iowans who have already completed their felony sentences. It requires residents to complete any prison, probation, parole, or special sentence.The order excludes automatic restoration for more serious crimes, such as murder, requiring those people to seek individual restoration but does not require repayment of victim restitution before they could vote."Today we take a significant step forward in acknowledging the importance of redemption, second chances and the need to address inequalities in our justice system,” said Reynolds. “The right to vote is the cornerstone of society and the free republic in which we live. When someone serves their sentence, they should have their right to vote restored automatically. We’re going to continue to advocate for a constitutional amendment and make this major milestone permanent. Death Wish Coffee Company is issuing a recall of their nitro brew cans because of the potential growth of a deadly toxin.According to the Food and Drug Administration, the company recalled 11oz. Death Wish Nitro Cold Brew cans because the current process could lead to the growth and production of botulin.Botulism is a potentially fatal form of food poisoning and can cause symptoms like weakness, dizziness, double vision, difficult breathing and more.They have halted the production of the Nitro Cold Brew until an additional step in the manufacturing process is implemented.They have also removed cans from the comapny's online stores.The company said they will make sure everyone who bought the product on their website receives a full refund within 60 days.So far, no illnesses have been reported. 811

DETROIT (AP) — Metal fragments from an exploding air bag inflator have killed the driver of an older model Volvo, touching off a U.S. recall of as many as 54,124 cars. The inflators in this case were made by auto parts supplier ZF/TRW, but U.S. government documents show they perform similarly to deadly inflators made by Takata. The recall covers Volvo S60 and S80 cars from 2001 through 2003 model years. Volvo said it will replace the driver’s air bag at no cost to customers.The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Saturday that it’s reviewing data with Volvo about other vehicles with the inflators and will decide on further action. ZF/TRW didn't immediately respond to messages left Saturday asking about whether the inflators were sold to other automakers. The federal agency says the Volvo inflator rupture is the only known incident worldwide. Japanese parts maker Takata used ammonium nitrate to create a small explosion to inflate air bags in a crash. But the chemical can deteriorate over time when exposed to moisture in the air. The explosion can blow apart a metal canister and hurl shrapnel into the passenger compartment.At least 26 people have been killed worldwide by the inflators, including 17 in the United States.The problem caused the largest series of auto recalls in U.S. history, with at least 63 million inflators recalled. As of September, more than 11.1 million had not been fixed, according to the U.S. government. About 100 million inflators have been recalled worldwide.NHTSA said Saturday that the ZF/TRW inflators did not use ammonium nitrate to inflate the air bags.Over the summer, Volvo recalled more than 2 million cars worldwide for another issue. That recall was about a steel wire that connected to the front seat belts. 1793
