CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — Seniors living at Volta Apartments in Otay Ranch say an elevator at the five-story complex has been broken for more than a month, leaving many residents feeling trapped. They also say management has been giving them the runaround, refusing to lay out a process or timeline for repairs."I would believe you probably two or three days, but not a month or two months. (KGTV) -- A card room in Chula Vista has built an elaborate outdoor facility as a way to continue its business and comply with San Diego County COVID-19 pandemic-related health guidelines.Seven Mile Casino’s new “card room” is actually a 5,500-square-foot tent, complete with tables distanced six feet apart, Plexiglass partitions to separate players, and touchless hand sanitizing stations around the tent.Before guests can enter the area, they must first go through a health screening. Staff and patrons must wear a face covering at all times while on the property.Seven Mile Casino spokesperson Brad Samuel said they’ve been working with health officials to make sure the casino meets all guidelines. They’re even using their cameras to help with contact tracing.Samuel added, "If someone was to get sick and say later, ‘I was at Seven Mile Casino,’ we can literally show that person and show authorities every single person that that person came into contact with … so they can be notified."Now that the casino has opened its doors, it means about 300 people also have jobs again. 1112

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A suspect police say led them on a chase in a car that was reported stolen has been arrested.Chula Vista Police say they received a report of a stolen Honda Civic Tuesday. After spotting the car around 3:02 p.m. Wednesday near I-5 and E Street, police tried to pull the driver over, but he led them on a chase through city streets, running several red lights in the process. The suspect then drove onto State Route 54. After the suspect began to drive east in the westbound lanes, police called off the chase.Shortly after police called off the chase, the suspect got out of the car and ran into the Villa Bonita apartment complex. The suspect was arrested after residents at the complex were able to point out which unit the the man went into.  808

CINCINNATI — Four Cincinnati Reds players knelt during the national anthem before an exhibition game against the Detroit Tigers at Great American Ball Park Tuesday night.Among the players kneeling in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement were Joey Votto, the Reds' star first baseman, pitcher Amir Garrett and left fielder Phillip Ervin.Garrett recently said he was reluctant at first to speak out in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, but he now says he's found his voice and calls for an end to racial injustice."I was scared to talk about these injustice issues we were having because in baseball, there's not a lot of African Americans that play the game, and I was nowhere near Kaepernick (in prominence)," Garrett said. "I felt I could be pushed out of the game. That was really scary for me."Since the death of George Floyd at the hands of police in Minneapolis earlier this year, Votto has been an outspoken supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement. Earlier this month, he was seen wearing a Black Lives Matter shirt during a workout."I think I've changed as a man. I feel my perspective has changed," Votto told the Associated Press earlier this month. "I didn't want to (speak up), but I couldn't sleep. There was a long stretch where I couldn't sleep. When it affects me that deeply, I felt strongly about saying something and learning. Every day I'm trying to learn."The demonstration by Reds players came a day after several members of the San Francisco Giants knelt for the national anthem prior to an exhibition on Tuesday.
