CHULA VISTA (KGTV) - A former San Diego psychiatrist who reportedly had offices in Chula Vista, San Ysidro, Kearny Mesa and El Cajon pleaded guilty Monday to a felony charge of having sexual contact with seven female patients during office visits and a misdemeanor count of sexual battery for groping an eighth woman.Leon Fajerman, 75, will be ordered to serve 365 days in custody and be required to register as a sex offender at a sentencing hearing Jan. 18.Judge Francis Devaney will consider alternatives to actual jail time, according to Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Matzger, City News Service reported.REPORT: San Diego County psychiatrist charged with sexual battery, having sex with patientFajerman -- who has been a licensed physician in California since 1978 -- voluntarily surrendered his medical license in May, state records show.In September 2017, court records showed that Fajerman assaulted three female patients, including one who said he groped her breasts and buttocks, according to the Union-Tribune.The complaints were turned in to the Medical Board of California. More than 60 homeless children and families had their holiday gifts paid for by a group fundraiser. ‘Making San Diego Smile’ formed at the end of November and was able to escort each child on a 0 Walmart shopping spree Wednesday night.“It just brings joy to my heart to know in such a short time we were able to bless so many children,” said Tony Castro, one of the organizers behind 'Making San Diego Smile.'The group says the fundraiser will be much larger next year after knowing the the popularity of it in just a few weeks. 657

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- The Sweetwater Union High School District announced Thursday that it plans to reopen August 3.According to the district, only distance or virtual learning will be available on August 3. No on campus instruction will be available.On August 28, the district will transition to "Phase 1" where 10 percent of students will be allowed on campus at any given time.As public health orders permit, the campus will move into phase two, where 20 percent of students will be allowed on campus. Phase three will see 50 percent or more of students on campus plus "some activities." No timeline was given for phase two and three.According to the district, families who opt out will have the option to fully enroll in virtual instruction beginning August 28. 781

CHULA VISTA (KGTV) -- Laurence and Cherryl Lector's two small children were eager to show off their costumes and hit up their neighborhood for sweets. But the couple didn't want to abandon their home on Baywood Circle in Chula Vista and disappoint the several trick-or-treaters likely to stop by for confectionery.So, the couple filled a large candy bowl hoping their security camera -- fixed visibly in their porch -- would keep visitors honest.  The family then set off on their haunts.The Lectors phones were buzzing with video alerts showing little ghosts and ghouls digging through the self-serve candy bowl and respecting the Halloween honor system.Then they received a video showing an esurient group of older kids, and one small girl, emptying out the dish into their bags."I was devastated someone could just get all the candy and ruin the night [for other trick-or-treaters]," said Laurence Lector.One of the kids noticed the camera and even pointed it out to someone else in the group, but the kids continued to snatch all of the treats until every sweet was gone."We were disappointed that those that came afterward came to an empty bowl," Cherryl Castro-Lector told said.About an hour later, they received a video from their camera that warmed their hearts.The video shows a girl and boy investigating the empty bowl.  They must've known that the night wasn't over for other little trick-or-treaters. So, the group took turns emptying their own their treats into the bowl, starting with their mom."I got a little teary eyed.  Gosh, I hope my kids are like that someday," Castro-Lector said. "I would have hugged those little kids and mom if I were there."The Lectors are eager to find these children and their parents to say thanks.  "I would love to meet them and thank them for being so kind. (KGTV) - A Chula Vista woman says an attempted purse snatching at her front door led to her being dragged into the street.Around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday on Kelso Court, surveillance video shows a vehicle stopping in the middle of the cul-de-sac. A person appears to gets out on the passenger side and linger near the car.At the same time and feet away, Shaun McMahon was in her car, parked in her driveway. When she got out of the car, she was carrying a bag, food items and her purse."When I got to my front door, I noticed in my right peripheral vision, a person was there," said McMahon.Her cameras captured a still image of the moment. She says a lean, dark-haired man, possibly in his 20s, grabbed at her purse."Held down on my purse, but it swung around because he pulled so hard," said McMahon.Everything else she was holding went flying, but she held fast to her purse."Dragging me towards my grass ... I hung on for dear life. I was yelling 'Let go!'" said McMahon. "It was instinct. I wasn't letting go. This was somebody violating me, stealing from me. I had to fight back."McMahon says she was dragged some 75 feet - across her lawn and into the street - as she continued to scream. With the purse coming apart, the man finally let go, and jumped in the parked car, which then took off.McMahon was left with a swollen ankle, a bruised back and a lot of questions. Among them: why was she targeted in an apparent drive-by purse snatching in front of her home? Police say this appears to be an isolated incident.McMahon plans to buy a new camera system and pepper spray."I never thought I should be concerned walking into my home.
