SAN FRANCISCO, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Apple Inc. announced on Tuesday that it has updated its iMac all-in-one desktop, adding Intel's next generation quad-core processors, Thunderbolt data ports and a new HD camera.Starting at 1,199 U.S. dollars, the new iMac is up to 70 percent faster and its new graphics deliver up to three times the performance of the previous generation, Apple said in a statement.The new iMac features quad-core Intel Core i5 processors with an upgrade option to Core i7 processors.The 21.5-inch model has a single Thunderbolt port while the 27- inch has two, in addition to four USB 2.0 inputs and a FireWire 800 port.Thunderbolt, which debuted with Apple's updated MacBook Pro notebooks in February, is also an Intel design bringing together high-speed data transfer and high-definition display onto a single cable. BEIJING, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Ministry said here Thursday that almost all Chinese travellers stranded in Egypt had returned home by planes sent by the government.A total of 1,848 Chinese, including those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, had been flown back by Thursday afternoon, the ministry said in a statement.The Chinese government has organized eight flights from four Chinese airline companies to Egypt since Jan. 31.The last two planes, belonging to China Eastern Airlines, returned to Beijing from Egypt Thursday, bringing back a total of 431 Chinese citizens, according to the ministry.

GUIYANG, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chen and her mentally handicapped son moved into their newly finished home last December. Shortly afterwards, a month-long cold wave with heavy snow hit their hometown, as well as the majority of southern China.It would have been "terrible" to stay in the old home in such cold weather, said 66-year-old Chen Houlian, a villager from the Tongzi County of southwestern China's Guizhou Province.Dropping temperatures and occasional sleet were predicted before this year's lunar New Year festival, which begins next Thursday.Behind the new home stood their old adobe cottage, with visible cracks on the clay walls. Wooden doors and window frames of that cottage were covered with black smoke due to more than 40 years of indoor cooking, while those of the new house were painted bright blue.In fact, the old house might collapse after the heavy snow, according to Jin Jing, deputy head of the County.Chen's family was one of the poorest in town. BEIJING, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- As the Chinese Lunar New Year hoilday ended Tuesday, waves of Chinese residents began their journey back to work, as they boarded trains, airplanes and buses.The China Meteorological Administration announced Tuesday that a cold front would cause temperatures to fall by 4 to 12 degrees Celsius in most parts of the country, while some areas in the northwest, north and southwest will see rainfall or snow from Wednesday to Friday.Fleets of motorbikes carrying thousands of migrant workers passed through national roads again on Tuesday.The Ministry of Public Security said it set up 8,300 service stations along the country's major highways to provide free food, medicine, and rest stops for motor-riding migrant workers. The stations also sent police cars to clear the way for large groups of motorists.Chen Tianchong, a migrant worker from Muge County, Guigang City of southwest China' s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and 38 of his fellow migrant worker started their journey on motorcycles at 4:30 a.m. on the foggy National Road 324, which is a 2,712-kilometer road linking five provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunan in southern China.A motorcycle usually carried two people, often a couple, sometimes with a child sandwiched in between.
