Charlottesville, Virginia, is again bracing for journalists and protesters to converge on the city as jury selection begins Monday for the man accused of killing Heather Heyer at last year's Unite the Right rally.James Fields of Maumee, Ohio, is accused of plowing his Dodge Challenger into a crowd of counterprotesters during the August 2017 white nationalist gathering, killing Heyer and injuring several other people, police say.Heyer, 32, was a local paralegal and had attended the rally to speak out against white supremacy and racism. Her friends and families say she died for her beliefs.Fields stands charged with first-degree murder in Heyer's death. He also faces five counts of malicious wounding, three counts of aggravated malicious wounding and one count of failing to stop at an accident involving a death.Separately, he is charged with hate crimes in a 30-count federal indictment. Prosecutors in that case allege Fields espoused white supremacist ideals and denounced minorities on social media before traveling to Virginia for the rally. Once there, the indictment says, he drove his car into a crowd with the intention of hurting people he targeted based on his bigoted views.The 21-year-old has pleaded not guilty to the federal charges. It's unclear whether he has entered a plea to the state charges, though a trial would not likely be necessary if he had pleaded guilty.His attorney, Denise Lunsford, did not return an email seeking comment. The apps include Postmates, Uber Eats, Door Dash and Eat 24.All four apps have slight differences when it comes to restaurants, fees and how easy they are to use. Not every app has the same restaurants on them, so you might have to use an app that has the restaurant of your liking.Door Dash was the simplest app to use because there weren’t that many choices or suggestions to help you choose what to eat.Eat 24, like many of the other apps offered food categories like American, Asian and Mexican to help you narrow down your choices.We found when placing your order on each app you had to add your credit card and address, but for Uber Eats you did not. If you have an Uber Ride Share account, it's automatically synced up to that app. It cut the ordering time in half if you were a new user.Although we used Postmates for ordering food, we learned you can use the app for ordering anything. Some use Postmates to order clothes to be picked up or getting an item from the drug store delivered to their house.No matter which app you use there’s a place to save money by adding a promo code. But, you’ll need to watch out for hidden service fees outside of the usual delivery and tax fee.A great feature all the apps have are alerts or push notifications letting you know where your food is and when it will be delivered.Almost every app delivered the food we ordered 10 minutes earlier than their estimated arrival time. CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) - A new law, passed unanimously by the Carlsbad City Council, will allow any place with a license to serve food and alcohol to also host live entertainment.Previously, only places that served primarily food were allowed to have live music or shows."What we’re looking at is more of the solo artist, the pianist, more of the acoustic music that we’re seeing a trend in the rise all over," says City Village Manager Claudia Huerta.The city hadn't updated its live entertainment rules since 2017. Huerta says business owners had requested the change to keep pace with other similar coastal cities. Now, they can apply for a permit to have live entertainment, including music, DJs or other performers like hypnotists and comedians."The village is a special place," says Zac Markham, who owns Humble Olive Oils on State Street. "I really think this will raise bar of the village and make it a place to be for Carlsbad and all of our county."Not everyone is excited about the change. Some neighbors worry that more music will lead to more people and more problems, especially late at night."The whole purpose of that is to get more business, right? I understand, that’s a valid business reason," says Carlsbad Barrio resident Simon Angel. "But is it appropriate for the communities that are going to be impacted by it? We already have people walking through at night. Sometimes they stop and relieve themselves or they get sick in people's front yards."Huerta says the city is working to make sure that doesn't happen. Every application for an entertainment permit will be reviewed by the police. And the City Council will revisit the program after 6 months to make sure it hasn't created any problems.The new ordinance goes into effect in April. CASS COUNTY, Ind. — Six people, including four children, died early Wednesday morning in a house fire near Logansport, Indiana.The fire started at about 1:45 a.m., Wednesday in the 4300 block of Pottawatomie Road. Deputies who arrived said they climbed on the roof and broke windows to try and get inside, but the flames were too intense, Logansport Pharos-Tribune reporter Mitchell Kirk said.A man and a woman made it out of the house and were hospitalized. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Indiana Fire Marshal's Office has assigned three investigators to the site.  634
