But if you look hard enough - something else is trying to take over.Limebike is a tech company that deals in two wheels.It's been a busy week for Colin McMahon, a manager at Limebike."On Friday we started rolling them out through all the weekend and now we are up to 200 bikes through operations," McMahon said.Limebike's mobile app is launching in Imperial Beach, its eighth city."A lot of curiosity so almost every time we brought a bike out of the truck people were asking what is this bike how does it work," McMahon said.Riders download the app, enter their credit card number and scan the back of the bike they want to ride.Even 4th grader, Jacquin Hallaway, can figure it out."I think it's fun that you can like rent a bike," Hallaway said.Unfortunately, not everyone has been behaving with the bikes.Someone in Seattle stuck one on a power pole but don't count out San Diego's shenanigans."There was one that was thrown off the pier. Fortunately, it was in shallow water so we were able to retrieve it," McMahon said.Limebike says roughly 10 bikes are out of commission and each one costs several hundred dollars.If the bike weighing 50 pounds doesn't stop you from walking off with it, the alarm that triggers after 20-30 feet will.Joseph Patterson, a Limebike retriever, said the app has become the talk of the town."I come out and I make sure all the Limebikes get back we don't have them blocking the sidewalk," Patterson said. "It's caught a lot of traction lately, everyone is starting to like them it's the talk of the town here."Limebike says they're doing their best to make sure they're not in the way but it's also how they build the brand."It's part of the allure, you see the bikes on the street," McMahon said. 1840

Hundreds gathered at a house party in Howell Township on Sunday, less than a week after New Jersey tightened indoor gathering restrictions because of an increase in the rate of coronavirus transmission.Local police asked for help from Wall, Brick, Jackson, Freehold, Monmouth, and Ocean County Sheriffs and State Police because of the large number of people at the party. There were about 300 people at the party."Most of the attendees are compliant," police said. Dealers are offering more incentives than ever before to get drivers back on the road, and because of the coronavirus, you can stay home and find a good deal.“It’s the way the world is going now,” said recent car buyer, Stephanie Given. “Everything’s online.”Given is an ICU nurse working on the frontline of the pandemic, and in the midst of the health crisis, badly needed a new car.“We needed that second vehicle, the more reliable vehicle that we knew would be reliable in this time,” said Given.Her nearly 15-year-old ride was giving out, but, walking in to a dealership made Given anxious. “I have been under a little stress in my work life and personal life, and I was kind of dreading the stress of buying a car,” she said.So, she started her search online. “I found the car online through the Carmax app, and I was kind of let down when I saw the car was in Las Vegas, and it was just a couple seconds and they said, ‘We can ship it to you,’ and I said, ‘What? That’s amazing!’” said Given. Not only did she find the car she was looking for online, she did all the paperwork at home. “I kind of had a hybrid experience. I did my part online and then came to the dealership to pick up and take possession of the car,” she said.Given’s experience is now becoming the norm. Dealers are making it possible to do everything, from shopping to financing, from your couch. Some dealers, like Carmax, will even drop off the car at your door.“We want to take the scary four-hour dealership visit that you’d expect, and allow you to do as many things as you want at home,” said Corey Haire, the Vice President of sales at Carmax.“You can do everything from a virtual walk around where they’ll walk around the vehicle with a facetime phone call and take direction from the consumer as to what they want to look closer at,” said Karl Brauer, an Executive Publisher at Kelley Blue Book and Autotrader.Brauer believes this new way of doing business is here to stay. “I think it’s proving more efficient on both sides,” he said.Brauer said the car industry is expecting to see a big bounce back through the summer and fall. “People are moving into more confident, purchasing mindsets,” he said.According to Brauer, new car sales are down by about 31% compared to spring 2019, but used car sales haven’t taken such a hit—down only about 6%.“I think there are a lot of people are thinking maybe they want their own personal vehicle in lieu of public transportation, but these people aren’t buying a car because they’ve dreamed of one or have wanted one, this is purely for functional purposes,” said Brauer.So if you’re looking for a deal, Brauer said the first step is research, and then, look for combined offers.“We’ve seen deals for 0% financing, which were getting pretty rare recently. We’ve seen deals like deferred payments for three to four months, but we’ve hardly ever seen both of those at the same time,” said Brauer. Some dealers are offering longer term loans too. “If you’re looking at a new vehicle, and one of these 0% 72 or 84-month loans are available to you, that’s real money you’re saving over that kind of time,” he said.If you want the new car smell without the new car price, check out a 2019 model. “They were going to be hard to sell anyways with the 2020 cars coming out, but now they’re even harder to sell with all the incentives going on for the new cars,” he said.Brauer reminds buyers that, with any purchase, make sure you’re financially ready. In Bucks County, Pennsylvania, prosecutors are arguing that 30-year-old Samantha Jones killed her 11-week-old son, R.J., by breastfeeding while using drugs.According to the criminal complaint, R.J. died from ingesting a "combination of fatal drugs through breast milk" and is being charged with criminal homicide.Jones' attorney, Louis Busico, said that Jones "absolutely, unequivocally loved that child" and never intended to harm him.According to an affidavit, Jones told investigators that about 3 a.m. April 2, she heard R.J. crying.He had been primarily breastfed, Jones said, but she had recently started using formula because she worried that he wasn't getting enough milk and wasn't sleeping. She was too tired to make a bottle of formula, according to the affidavit, so she decided to nurse him. She then dozed on and off for a few more hours.Before her husband, Vincent McGovern, left for the day, he made R.J. a bottle and left it with Jones. She remembers feeding R.J., putting him back in his bassinet around 6:30 a.m. and going back to sleep.In the affidavit, Jones said she woke up about an hour later and panicked when she saw that R.J. was pale and had bloody mucus coming out of his nose. Jones and her mother, who also lived in the house, called 911 and began CPR.R.J. was taken to a hospital by ambulance and pronounced dead by 8:30 a.m.According to the Bucks County Coroner's Office, the autopsy revealed traces of methadone, amphetamine and methamphetamine were found in the infant's blood and contributed to his death.The affidavit further noted that the examiner who performed the autopsy said "R.J. ingested the combination of fatal drugs through breast milk."According to the affidavit, Jones told the investigators that she had been prescribed methadone since pregnancy to help manage her addiction to opioid painkillers, but there is no mention of other drugs.Investigators say they tested the bottle last used to feed R.J., as well as the can of formula, and found no traces of illicit drugs.In a news release, Bucks County Deputy District Attorney Kristin M. McElroy said it is possible that Jones could face a murder charge that carries a mandatory life sentence. The prosecutor's office did not offer any additional comment.Since her arrest, Busico said, his client is "completely in a state of depression." He added that the charges and arrest kicked Jones when she was already down, dealing with the death of her child.When asked about amphetamine or methamphetamine drug use by Jones, Busico would not comment.Jones' preliminary hearing was set for Wednesday.
