TAMPA, Fla. — Nearly 90 friends in the Tampa, Fla., area are betting big on their Mega Millions chances Tuesday.The group pooled together their money to purchase 11,000 tickets from a Ybor City neighborhood market, according to The Tampa Bay Times.And it's not the first time the group has gone in together for the prize either.The group has already reportedly spent ,000 on Mega Millions tickets, and rolled over winnings of ,224, according to the paper.Ryan McGuinness, who purchased the tickets, told the Times, "Everybody is back in."The group is hoping those past winnings pay off with Tuesday's drawing for the .6 billion jackpot. The ACT, the standardized test used for college admissions, has a backlog of scores that still have not gone out to students, and it is causing some to miss out on applying to schools and scholarships.“There’s a lot of anxiety riding on it,” said Sarah Horner, whose daughter, Riley, who hopes to go to the University of Illinois next year. “I’ve watched her get all excited to take [the ACT], and [now] she’s just done, and that’s how a lot of the kids are.”As a senior in high school, Horner is waiting on scores from her ACT, a test she was scheduled to take in April but was not able to until June.“It’s been very tough watching her struggle,” said Horner “And it’s not just me. There are parents all over the United States that are just as upset about this.”Once COVID hit, ACT tests were canceled and rescheduled for the summer. At the same time, the ACT had scheduled to launch a new website feature that overloaded its system and caused it to crash.For parents and students who typically receive scores within two to three weeks of the test, it left them scrambling to find recourse.“It’s devastating. Yes, it is honestly devastating,” said Cecilia Walker, whose son, Seth, was supposed to take the test in March but was rescheduled for July.“It’s pretty much universal,” Seth Walker said. “All of my friends are having the same issues of getting hung up on by the ACT.”Walker is confident he will get into Auburn University. TEMPE, Ariz. — A Tempe bar is under investigation for allegedly allowing employees who had tested positive for COVID-19 to continue working, as well as allegedly violating the governor's executive order to enforce social distancing measures, the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control said Thursday.According to a news release, Varsity Tavern, a bar and restaurant in downtown Tempe, reportedly told the Arizona Department of Liquor on Wednesday that it had closed in light of the investigation. Its license has been deemed inactive, which prevents the business from buying or selling alcohol.John Cocca, director of the department, will seek to revoke the venue's liquor license, the news release said.Varsity Tavern faces the following alleged violations:Multiple instances where management required or permitted employees who had tested positive for COVID-19 to continue workingManagement failed to take appropriate measures to notify the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) or other agencies, employees, or customers that employees who had tested positive had worked while symptomaticManagement failed to create or enforce written policies in compliance with the executive order, CDC or ADHS guidelinesManagement failed to enforce social distancing guidelines requiring masks or limiting groups to gatherDepending on the outcome of the investigation, penalties could include suspension or revocation of the bar's liquor license, and up to ,000 in fines per violation, according to the notice given to Varsity Tavern.Because of the seriousness of the charges, anyone with information is asked to call the Department's Investigations Division at 602-542-9062. 1691
