During the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, many couples turned to Zoom and other virtual video platforms so they could still get married in front of loved ones. But as the pandemic continues, a lot of couples are now back to holding weddings in-person. With a little bit of distance between guests."I definitely think it’s going to be a thought on everybody’s mind whether: do you keep smaller numbers or do you have the large numbers you originally wanted and you just space the chairs? Do you have to have more tables and more people per table?" said Braden Sutton, a wedding planner, day-of coordinator and ordained minister with JBS Weddings and Events in Georgia. He, like other wedding planners across the country, saw soon-to-be wed couples panic when the pandemic first erupted in the spring."Of course they want the big wedding they planned but they don't know what to do because they don't want to cut people off of the list and they don't want to hurt anybody’s feelings," said Sutton.Six months into the pandemic, Sutton says more couples are turning to socially-distanced weddings, making accommodations at their venues and sometimes shortening their guest lists to still have an in-person celebration as safely as possible. "Because we’ve all seen a few things on social media about large numbers of COVID cases happening at weddings and other gatherings, nobody wants that to be their wedding. Definitely it's possible, just play it smart," said Sutton.Courtney Saxon and Kayla Zachery began planning their Georgia wedding nearly a year ago. "And honestly, in the beginning I think we both were like, 'Oh, everything will be fine by November we’re not going to have to worry about it,'" said Saxon. They soon realized, if they wanted to keep their wedding date, they'd need to make a few adjustments. Chairs at the ceremony will be spaced and fewer people will be seated at each table."Ideally what will happen is everyone will sit as a family unit. So if you live together, of course you're already around one another. We're just trying to keep everyone essentially around people they came with," said Saxon.They'll also have hand sanitizing stations at food tables and all entrances, plus a video live stream of the event for those guests who can't attend in person. While the wedding won't look exactly how they envisioned, the two have a positive outlook for their special day. "To me, the most important thing is that at the end of the day I get to marry my best friend. That's really all I care about. It doesn't matter if everything goes exactly as I hoped or we planned because no matter if you get married in a pandemic or not, things are bound and determined to go wrong," said Saxon."What do they have to do to make sure they're safe, guests are safe and another part is just the venue what they require," said Sutton. Sutton is also planning his own wedding which is supposed to take place in March. He believes most couples will be planning socially-distanced weddings through the end of 2021. 3029

Eight college football games scheduled this weekend have been canceled due to the spread of the coronavirus. Among them, the championship game between unbeaten Coastal Carolina and Top 25 Louisiana-Lafayette was called off.The Sun Belt Conference canceled the contest because of a positive COVID-19 test from a member of Coastal Carolina, which resulted in an entire position group being forced to quarantine in order to follow protocol.“We are very disappointed that the championship game cannot be played, but we are so proud of all of the players and staff members and their hard work during this truly challenging season," said Sun Belt Commissioner Keith Gill. "We will honor both teams as 2020 Sun Belt Conference Co-Champions."Coastal Carolina defeated Louisiana in October by a 30-27 margin.Of the eight college football games canceled this weekend, five include a Top 25 team.The upcoming college football weekend features several big matchups that will determine the four teams that will be invited to the College Football Playoff. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - A Little League in El Cajon reeling from COVID-related hardship was targeted in a weekend theft."It's horrible. I don't now how someone could steal from a little league ... It was gut-wrenching," said Erik Weichelt, President of the Fletcher Hills Little League."Just devastating for the league," said Weichelt's son Gage, 12, who plays in the league.Discovered on Saturday: a damaged fence, gate shoved open, and a locked batting cage that was broken into. A bevy of equipment was stolen, including a riding mower, a pitching machine, two custom hitting mats, two sets of catcher's gear, three catcher's mitts and hundreds of baseballs."To steal from the kids just doesn't make sense," said Weichelt.The total loss was about ,000."What a troubling year for this to happen," said Weichelt.So far this year, COVID-19 health orders have canceled the team's main fundraiser, along with limiting all activities to practices and no games. In the concession area, there is ,500 worth of food which will likely go unsold."No revenue has come in. We're losing money because fees are still there. The cost of lights and maintenance isn't going away," said Weichelt.Their financial dilemma is now a bigger issue because of the theft. The loss of the equipment will limit the activities the kids are able to do, during a time when baseball, for many, has become a lifeline."No pitching machine means we can't hit. No lawn mower, no grass to play on. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - El Cajon has the highest concentration of homeless among East County communities, according to the latest homeless count. The count found 298 are people living without shelter in El Cajon and another 498 that live sheltered. One of the organizations devoted to helping the homeless in the community is the Crisis House, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. They satisfy immediate needs with food, diapers, and clothing. They've also helped many get permanent housing. However, there is still a major gap in services in getting people from the streets to permanent housing. COMPLETE COVERAGE: Life in El Cajon"I think for this community to start with a bridge shelter might be very helpful," said Executive Director Mary Case. The concept behind a bridge shelter is a place where their clients can stay while the organization helps them the right help they need or while they want for permanent housing. Case says there isn't a place like that for their clients. She says there are times "where I've arranged for a service provider to come and meet somebody here and they're not here, and it's like gee, they're here most days," she said. At that point they have to reschedule the meeting with the provider. It's tough to track down or get a hold of clients when they are living in the street. City Manager Graham Mitchell points out there are many religious organizations in the community that also work with the homeless. He also says getting all the homeless in a central location raises some concerns. "I know what you're saying; there's some value in having everyone under one roof where everyone is there," he told 10News. "In a small community that would place a burden on one entire neighborhood. So I'm actually going to be recommending we find partners throughout the community." EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- A crash sent a minivan into the side of a building in El Cajon Wednesday evening. According to a witness, the crash happened near the intersection of Douglas Avenue and Orange Avenue around 5 p.m. The witness told 10News that the white van went into the side of a building and through a garage. Photos of the building show the vehicle lodged into a wall. At this time it’s unknown if anyone was injured in the crash. 452
