LA JOLLA, Calif. (KGTV) - Four former students are suing the San Diego Unified School District and a former teacher, claiming he sexually assaulted them in high school. Team 10 investigative reporter Jennifer Kastner interviewed one of his accusers who says the school district failed to protect her. “When I was a senior at La Jolla High School in the year of 2003, I was sexually assaulted by my physics teacher,” says former student Loxie Gant.She’s one of the four women who are now suing the former teacher and the district, claiming the district had numerous opportunities to punish or report his behavior, but failed to do so.Attorney Mark Boskovich tells 10News, “The school district knew about these sexual assaults because the students reported [them]. This is not one of those cases where people didn't come forward. They did.”10News is not naming the former teacher because he has not been criminally charged.He declined to offer us any comment on the lawsuit.According to the suit, in 2003 two students reported that he put his hands down a female student's pants, but the complaint alleges that even after the district substantiated the complaint, it never reported it to the San Diego County District Attorney's Office or California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.The lawsuit states that between roughly 2003 and 2014, multiple female students, including Gant, reported being sexually assaulted by the same former teacher. Their attorney says he was allowed to keep teaching until he retired three years ago and now collects an annual pension of more than ,000.“I’ve been trying for years to get San Diego Unified to admit their faults and take responsibility for what happened,” adds Gant. According to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, the former teacher's credentials were revoked last year because of misconduct, but the details of the misconduct and whether it’s related to the allegations of sexual assault are not being disclosed to 10News. (KGTV) — East County residents say they're behind a local dog rescue's efforts to provide for canines, but that the facility has been operating dangerously.Suzy Avalos lives next door to the Happy Hearts German Shepherd Rescue, which is run out of a La Mesa home. She tells 10News the dogs that reside in the yard have had no problem jumping the fence."You see the fence is not high. It's right up here. The dogs don't have a problem jumping over this fence," Avalos said. "I've lived here for 10 years and it's just progressively getting worse."RELATED: Disease fatal to dogs that can spread to humans on the rise in some statesWhen the dogs escape they can also be aggressive, neighbors say, with at least one dangerous incident being recorded. 10News obtained records from the La Mesa Police Department showing at least 28 instances where officers responded to the dog rescue to help round up escaped canines or help people who say they were attacked by the dogs."We have a lot of people on this street that have young kids and I'm just worried a child is going to get bit or something worse is going to happen," Avalos said. "They're out of control and she should not have a license."The woman who runs the dog rescue, Donna, declined an interview by 10News. LAKELAND, Fla. — An 85-year-old man was bitten by an alligator at a retirement community Monday afternoon, FWC says.Officials say the alligator was 9-feet-9-inches and trappers pulled it out of a pond Monday afternoon.It happened at the Cypress Lakes Retirement Community.The man was reportedly bitten on the foot and taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center where the extent of his injuries are not known at this time.The community posted on its Facebook page about the incident and reminded residents about safety around alligators.Jane Rickel lives here and says trappers found the man’s white sneaker in the gator’s mouth confirming they got the right one.“His wife heard him screaming supposedly.
