SHANGHAI, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- A new free-trade zone (FTZ) was inaugurated in east China's Yangtze River Delta on Thursday, along with the expansion of another one, representing new steps to ensure high-quality, integrated development for the region and further momentum for the country's opening-up.
Themed "Valuing Our Communities and Cities," this year's events had government officials, experts and community representatives from home and abroad sharing their experience and practices in promoting high-quality urban development and improving people's living environment.

Tan Kefei, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, made the remarks in response to reports that the U.S. has approved arms sales plans worth about 1.8 billion U.S. dollars to Taiwan.
"This is why we should embrace the vision of a community with a shared future in which everyone is bound together," Xi said, calling on countries to see each other as members of the same big family, pursue win-win cooperation, rise above ideological disputes and not to fall into the trap of "clash of civilizations."
Speaking at a seminar held by ACM in August as a prelude to the exhibition, Singapore's Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean said that the show is particularly significant as the collection is a tangible demonstration of the long-standing historical links between China, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, which continue to flourish today.
