SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Tourists and locals alike can enjoy one of San Diego's most famous landmarks Saturday for free in honor of National Public Lands Day.The National Park Service is offering free entry at Cabrillo National Monument, and other U.S. landmarks, as part of its "fee-free" days throughout the year. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Wherever a Topgolf is built in San Diego, it's bound to tee-up some criticism.But as it stands, a potential East Harbor Island location facing golfers toward the downtown skyline may not end up being an option.The Board of Port Commissioners decided to delay a decision earlier this month on entering an exclusive negotiation agreement with Topgolf.RELATED: Gaslamp Quarter thoroughfare may become a promenadeThe Port directed staff to begin mapping out an agreement with Topgolf late last year. East Harbor Island was floated as a potential location at the time. But an agreed upon location must be chosen first before the negotiation starts.During the Feb. 11 meeting, commissioners were presented a study on developing the Harbor Island site and how Topgolf could work into that plan. Three diagrams showed the site's possibilities, with or without Topgolf:A "phase one" diagram included a potential Topgolf plus a 400-space parking lot and 500-room hotel and parking structure on the east side of the island. The "phase two" rendering kept Topgolf and the east-end hotel, but added a hotel development to the facility's west side that could have a shared parking structure with Topgolf.The final diagram depicted three hotel developments on the East Harbor Island land, without Topgolf. All the diagrams were meant to be illustrative of potential ideas of the site, not an official plan. It's a lot of land.""It seems to me we have one decision or one issue we need to discuss, which is do we want to have Topgolf in this location," said chair Anne Moore. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - U.S. Coast Guard crew members rescued seven people off the coast of La Jolla from a sinking yacht Friday. The vessel began taking on water Friday morning when the call for help came in. Coast Guard, San Diego Lifeguards, and U.S. Navy members all responded."You have to be pretty Johnny-on-the-spot whenever you're hovering over a boat like that," pilot Treston Taylor said. "Especially lowering and hoisting people up and down."A water pump was also lowered to the sinking ship to help buy crews time."For those people on that vessel, they were very excited. Their adrenaline was pumping," Lyman Dickson, the Coast Guard swimmer lowered to the yacht, said. "It's a very intense situation for them."No injuries were reported during the rescue. 795

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Two men were stabbed and an officer was headbutted after a fight erupted between two groups outside a Gaslamp District nightclub.Two large groups of men were ejected from Phantom nightclub on Fifth Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. and got into a street fight outside, San Diego Police said. During the altercation, two men were stabbed.One of the victims, a 22-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen and taken to a nearby hospital. The other victim, a 24-year-old, received lacerations to his stomach, arms, and hands. Police say he was uncooperative and refused medical attention. Minutes later, he was contacted at 1200 3rd Avenue and fought with the responding officers, SDPD said.During the altercation, the man headbutted an officer and attempted to gouge out the eyes of another officer, police said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Windmill Farms Community Market in Del Cerro is asking for the public's help locating their stolen trailer.The family-owned grocery store has been serving San Diego since 2003 with a mission to provide healthy, organic foods at affordable prices. Surveillance video from the early morning hours on Sunday captures a white SUV with black rims circling the market. At around 4:30 a.m. the SUV hauls off the trailer. “Just unbelievable," said Michael Villegas, produce manager and buyer. “That trailer was a big part of our business; everything we had for our events was in that trailer."Villegas is also in charge of the store's community events, like bringing food to the Lake Murray 4th of July Fireworks and bringing fresh produce to schools. “Schools depend on us to do the events, if we have to start over it’s going to be tough," said Villegas.The trailer held all their tents, tarps, tables, and BBQ's.Villegas estimates the loss at around ,000. “I just hope we can get it back, you know, that would be awesome if we could get it back, if anybody seen anything give us a call," said Villegas. A spokesperson for San Diego Police says a report was filed and a detective should get the case in a few days.
