(KGTV) -- A Rock Star of Science came to San Diego to speak to medical students at UC San Diego about the latest research in Alzheimer’s.While here, Dr. Rudolph Tanzi, a Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, and Vice-Chair of Neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital met up with 10News Anchor Kimberly Hunt.Dr. Tanzi discussed his latest research, drugs in trial that may be able to wipe out the Alzheimer's decades before symptoms, and testing to target the inflammation associated with memory loss.Tanzi also spoke to Hunt about his other passion. His love of music.This passion has taken him down an unlikely path. One that has him performing live with famed guitarist Joe Perry, and playing keyboards on the last Aerosmith album.“If you can find creative success in music, that can be instant, then that will feed longer term successes in science that might take 10 years. It allows you to stick with it," Tanzi said. "Scientific success takes years, in music you can have success in a solo in a few minutes. Creative success, breeds creative success…so one feeds the other.” Tanzi also co-wrote an Alzheimer’s anthem with The Voice and Phantom star Chris Mann. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Plaza Academy teacher Justin Gillespie is bringing hip hop production to his classroom.The class is called ‘The Beat Academy of KC’ and is the 5th and 6th hour at school for students.“It's the only program in Kansas City that teaches kids how to make hip hop production,” Gillespie said.Gillespie launched the program back in August.“It's been something I've done in my personal life,” Gillespie said. “I've been a professional musician for 15 years and it's been super rewarding.”From beats to rhythms, students take their creativity to a whole new level.“I'm excited to go here everyday,” freshman Thom Van Til said. “I get joyful when I come here, like it helps me calm down,” 8th grader K’ron Lyons said.The class is producing more than just quality hip hop, it’s also producing higher grades and more engagement from students.“Justin would probably say you cannot perform because your grades is bad, so he encourages me to like make sure I do my work,” Lyons said.Students plan to perform what they’ve been working on at the Beat Academy Block Party alongside Kansas City hip hop artists like Ces Cru, JL & Info Gates, Adrian Truth and Suli4Q. The school is raising funds to build a recording studio this summer, to make more courses available to students next year.  1328

(AP) — Kanye West will appear as a presidential candidate on Mississippi's ballot in November, after being approved as a qualified candidate by the State Board of Election Commissioners. The rapper has already qualified to appear on the ballot as an independent candidate in several states, including Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Utah. Joe Biden will be meeting with the family of Jacob Blake during his visit to Wisconsin on Thursday.The family's attorney confirmed the update to TMJ4 on Wednesday.Biden is expected to visit Kenosha on Thursday with his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, just two days after President Donald Trump was there. The visit was announced Wednesday morning.On Tuesday, President Trump surveyed damage and met with law enforcement. He did not meet with Blake's family while he was in Wisconsin. During a news conference ahead of the visit, the president said the family had wanted to involve lawyers in their conversation. "And I thought that was inappropriate, so I didn't do that. But I did speak with the pastor of the family," Trump said.Former Vice President Biden is scheduled to visit Kenosha on Thursday, a little less than a month after he took part in the virtual Democratic National Convention. Biden did not travel to Milwaukee during the convention due to coronavirus concerns.During an education event on Wednesday, Biden told media that he has received "overwhelming requests" from Democratic leaders to visit Wisconsin."What we want to do is -- we've got to heal.
