SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- City Council members Friday announced a plan to push for a temporary shelter for the homeless in Murphy Canyon.Council members Lorie Zapf and David Alvarez will hold a news conference Monday to request that a shelter be built at the former Chargers training facility.The complex, owned by the city, has remained unused since the Chargers moved to Los Angeles and will likely remain vacant for several more years.Announcing the press conference, the councilmembers said, “The San Diego River has seen an explosion of homeless encampments this year. This is an environmental nightmare and extremely dangerous with the rainy season rapidly approaching.”More than 100 homeless encampments were counted by volunteers with the San Diego River Park Foundation in October. 792

General Manager of Theater Box Donnie Eversole said.He said it was wonderful 'being home' back in the theater, "we haven't been in the theater for 90 to 120 days so it's like a new adventure."He said it helps that the week they opened, two blockbusters, Christopher Nolan's Tenet and Bill and Ted Face the Music, are screening.While they're capped at 25% Eversole said you can make sure you claim your seat by reserving online. They are working to add more showtimes while abiding by the new guidelines.Last time San Diego had sweeping reopenings, there was a huge spike in coronavirus cases. Eversole said they are doing everything they cna to prevent another spike, "every cdc guideline is followed to the letter, we do not bend, we do not break. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - As the world grieves the loss of Aretha Franklin, a local woman is recalling her final and historic San Diego concert on Shelter Island.Linda Moody is the widow of saxophone legend James Moody, who died in 2010. In 2005 during a newspaper interview, an excited Franklin, in town for a concert, learned Moody lived in San Diego.
