SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A driver was shot while traveling on a Clairemont street Thursday night, according to police.At around 10:30 p.m., a man was driving in the 5800 block of Chateau Drive when he was hit by gunfire, San Diego police said.ABC 10News learned the injured man was able to drive a few blocks before the SUV crashed into an electrical box in front of San Diego Fire-Rescue Station 36.Firefighters and paramedics at the station heard the crash and rushed to help the victim, who had at least one gunshot wound on his upper body.The unidentified victim was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital, but his condition is unknown as of 9 a.m. Friday.Police said witnesses reported seeing a silver 4-door sedan leaving the shooting scene. 743

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A dog walk in South Park turned frantic as a couple tries to fend off a bee attack that didn't end when they got inside their home.Grape Street, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Patricia Young, her husband, and two dogs were near Marlton drive, just about done with their walk, when one of the dogs started sniffing a bush."All of a sudden I felt a really sharp stabbing in my arm. Then I heard buzzing near my eye and swatted at it. That’s when my husband started to get stung," said Young.Young says she didn’t see a swarm but heard a constant, loud buzzing."My husband is swatting and his glasses fall of. I pick them up, and he’s getting attacked ... Take my mask off and swing it around my back, and I get stung on my back," said Young.Young says her husband picked up one of the dogs, and they scrambled to get home, about 2 blocks away."We’re kind of yelping and squealing and swatting, and then get home, and it's that sense of, 'We’re safe,'" said Young,Not so fast. Inside the home, she found a bee on one of the dogs, and then one in the bathroom."When I came out to the kitchen, the bees were congregating in the light in the kitchen," said Young.In the end, they killed about eight bees. Their nine-year-old Maltese mix had to be treated by a veterinarian for a possible sting. Both Young and her husband stung several times"It's a freaky, terrible thing to be chased by bees into your home," said Young.Jeff Lutz, the owner of Bee Best Bee Removal, says a two-block chase is unusual, adding that "hot temperature can make bees more active," as they bring in water to keep the hive cool.It’s unclear if the bees were Africanized bees, which would require a DNA test to determine.Lutz says bee removal calls are down significantly this year but attributes that to the impact of COVID-19. 1812

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A foot pursuit between police and a suspect ended in an officer-involved shooting in the Logan Heights neighborhood Monday.An officer was trying to contact a 30-year-old Hispanic male, later identified as Enrique Aguilar, at about 3:20 p.m. over what he believed to be a narcotics violation, according to San Diego Police Capt. Tom Underwood. Aguilar fled, prompting a foot pursuit in the area of 3400 National Avenue, police say.Police said during the foot pursuit, Aguilar revealed a handgun.VIDEO: Video captures officer-involved shooting in Logan HeightsPAST OIS INCIDENTS: DA releases body cam footage, reviews several officer-involved shootingsOfficers say they ordered Aguilar to drop his weapon. Police said at one point, Aguilar pointed the handgun at officers, prompting an exchange of gunfire.Aguilar was struck at least once. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.Neither officer, one a 24-year veteran and the other a 2-year veteran, was injured in the shooting. Underwood added there was another male suspect they were searching for connected to the initial narcotics violation.Both directions of the 3200-3500 blocks of National Ave. have been closed to traffic as officers investigate. SAN DIEGO (CNS) -- UC San Diego denounced an Instagram account claiming an affiliation with the university that posted "hateful, racist content" on its page, while a similar investigation was underway at the University of San Diego.On Sunday night, UCSD officials were made aware of the page, which featured several racist posts and represented a connection with the university."We firmly denounce what was shared on this account," the school wrote in a Monday afternoon Twitter statement, "and condemn all forms of racism and hate."UCSD said similar posts were seen on another account, which apparently claimed affiliations with a different university.RELATED: USD investigating white supremacist Instagram accounts that claim ties to schoolThough the other university was not identified in UCSD's statement, the University of San Diego posted a statement last weekend indicating the school was aware "that abhorrent and hateful Instagram accounts, claiming ties to USD, have been used to post white supremacy propaganda."In a statement, USD said the content of the accounts "tears at the very fabric of who we are as a Catholic university and the values we hold dear."The school says it has initiated an investigation into the posts and asked Instagram to take the pages down, along with any other affiliated accounts.USD officials said anyone with information regarding the accounts' creator should contact Dr. Donald Goodwin at deanofstudents@sandiego.edu."Hate speech and actions directed at intimidating or harassing any members of our campus community have no place at USD and cannot be tolerated," the school said.UCSD says its Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination -- which provides assistance to students, faculty and staff regarding reports of bias, harassment and discrimination -- is working with the school's chief information security officer to investigate the account.Anyone with information regarding the account's creator was asked to contact the Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination at OPHD@ucsd.edu."If found that UC San Diego community members are involved, they will be held accountable," the statement said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 13-year old girl, waiting for her mother to pick her up in Grant Hill, was attacked by a knife-wielding man Friday afternoon.San Diego Police are now using surveillance videos in their search for the suspect, who yanked a gold necklace from the teen's neck before making his getaway near the intersection of 26th and K Street.The girl wasn't hurt, but parents like Elizabeth Alvarado, whose twin 12-year-old daughters walk by that same spot each day, are hoping he doesn't strike again.Alvarado saw surveillance video after the principal of her daughters' school sent parents a link, suggesting they talk to their kids about staying safe.Andy Trakas of Albert Einstein Charter Middle School said the girl who was attacked wasn't one of his students, but there are several other schools in the neighborhood."We decided to be very, very proactive because the safety of our students," said Trakas, adding that all children in the community are a concern."These things can happen anywhere," Trakas said. "They can happen in La Jolla, they can happen in City Heights, they can happen in Del Sur or La Mesa, whatever, but, by being part of the community we can all work together to make sure that our eyes and ears are open so we can find out who this person is and make this place a better, safer community for our kids."Trakas suggested parents talk to their kids about being aware of their surroundings and the importance of staying in groups, not alone, after school.
