SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man running in and out of traffic while naked in Little Italy died after being taken into police custody Friday.Witnesses say the man was yelling for help in the area of 600 W. Grape Street at about 11 p.m. When the first San Diego Police officer responded, he was able to place handcuffs on the man.As the officer led the man out of traffic, though, witnesses told police the man began to struggle and was taken to the ground by the officer. At least two civilians had to help restrain the man until more officers arrived.RELATED: El Cajon hit-and-run crash suspect found hiding under bedThe man was taken to a nearby hospital where he died just before midnight. The man's death was ruled as an in-custody death.During the struggle, the man suffered a cut to the head. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A life-changing medical diagnosis forced a San Diego sailor to leave the military and start over. While devastating, he's now pursuing another career with help from his new best friend. "When I left the ship and went to MCRD I started getting really sick and thought it was the flu," said Hugo Reynoso.Instead, Reynoso was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and was medically retired from the Navy. "It's kind of scary having a steady paycheck and then going to have to look for something else," said Reynoso.On several occasions, dangerously high blood sugar levels sent Reynoso to the hospital. A friend suggested he get a diabetic alert dog. "He has enough personality for the both of us! He's a special character," said Reynoso, referring to his service dog Sky.Sky can detect when Reynoso's blood sugar levels are too high or low, alerting him by tugging his shirt or howling. In one instance, Sky detected extremely low levels when Reynoso was sleeping, alerting him to get up. Sky was by Reynoso's side as he pursued a new career in the automotive field. Reynoso was commuting two hours to Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Rancho Cucamonga for a fast-track program. "I was commuting 167 miles, one way, I would have to wake up around 2:30 a.m., start my drive at 3," said Reynoso.Reynoso did this five times a week, running on just a few hours of sleep. Sky was there to ensure his blood sugar levels were steady. "Everyone told me when we were getting ready to graduate that they were going to miss me, but mostly they were going to miss him because he was their support too."While Reynoso's diagnosis took away his old dreams, he now has a partner to help achieve new ones. 1711

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A heartbroken woman is making a plea for tips after hundreds of family heirlooms were stolen out of her Allied Gardens home.Last Friday afternoon, Mary Anne Madruga got a wrenching call from her husband."Just a moment of disbelief and shock. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man united families across the United States after digging into a military training crash that happened 50 years ago at MCAS El Toro.Johnathan Keene often visited his cousin's grave at Arlington National Cemetery, "I go up to visit him twice a year, typically Memorial Day and Veteran's Day." On January 15, 2019, he was in the neighborhood, stopped by and it was that day that he noticed Maj. Walter Zytkewicz grave next to his cousin's grave.Maj. Zytkewicz was in the Marines, like his cousin, and died the day before his cousin. He said that 'grabbed' him.Up until that day he knew his cousin, Capt. Robert Walls, died in a military crash, but it wasn't spoken of at the dinner table.He knew there must be a connection to the two men, so he started digging. He found four other Marines were on the same training flight July 30th, 1970. "Major Zytkewicz was 2 months away from retiring," Keene said he was studying to become a realtor.Staff Sergeant Kenneth Davis, 1st Lieutenant Mullins and Corporal Kenneth Metzdorf. Keene said Metzdorf wasn't supporsed to be on the flight, "called his best friend and said hey could you go on this flight for me today? So they switched and that cost him [his life]."Keene tracked down the redacted incident report and filled in the gaps with interviews from witnesses and Marines who knew the men on board."Witnesses say they waited too late to pull the plane out of the angle of attack and the plane hit, bounced, flipped upside down, hit again, bounced in the air, the left wing fell off, all four props fell off. The plane landed right in the middle of the air field. Flames and fuel streamed down the runway, they said it was basically a long stream of fuel and fire," he said.Flames Keene was amazed to learn his cousin and Metzdorf walked through, "the report listed 80%-90% coverage of third degree burns. I can't even imagine how he walked out," he said shocked.Mullins was killed on impact, found 50 yards from the plane with a broken leg. Walls, Zytkewicz and Metzdorf died days later from their injuries.Keene said Walls died from burns in his lungs.SSgt. Davis passed in 2013.The exact cause was redacted in the report. Keene believes the Marine Corps wants to preserve the honor of the pilot and protect his family."After the crash, the material that made up Marine Corps and Navy flight suits was changed. They thought it was a flame retardant material, unfortunately it burned and melted to their skin," he said.Keene hopes these difficult discoveries will fuel Marines' admiration. To keep their memories alive, Keene created a plaque with the team's names that will be presented at MCAS Miramar, where the squadron now resides."Every other Marine that goes through that squadron will see that plaque and realize there's five men that in some way or another touched their lives from either a safety stand-point or history and lineology of VMGR-352," Keene said. 2946

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego man is accused of having and distributing explicit images of minors.According to a federal complaint that was just unsealed authorities allege Gilad Daniel Reifler knowingly distributed visual depictions of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct and possessed images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.The federal documents say agents used peer-to-peer file sharing software to connect to his computer in January 2017 and obtain more than four thousand images. Agents say they were able to connect to the computer on two other dates and obtain more sexually explicit files.According to the complaint in June of 2017 agents searched Reifler’s home where they claim he admitted to obtaining and distributing child pornography via the same P2P file-sharing program that they used to obtain the images from a device in his residence.Court documents say, “following the execution of the search warrant I reviewed media seized from Reifler’s residents. The results showed over 170,000 images and over 10,000 videos depicting minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct on media seized.”A man who identified himself has Gilad Reifler told Team 10 investigator Adam Racusin he had no comment about the allegations.10News tried to get a hold of Reifler’s attorney, but as of this writing have not heard back.The FBI tells Team 10 they can’t comment on anything outside of what’s already in the public documents. 1466
