The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the probe covers about 392,000 Kia Sorento SUVs from the 2011 through 2013 model years. The agency says it has 74 reports of failures that may be related to connectors overheating. There were no reports of crashes or injuries. Some complaints allege that both headlights went out in the middle of turns or while traveling on the highway. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention continues to warn against eating any romaine lettuce harvested from the central Coastal growing regions of Northern and Central California amid a multistate outbreak of E. coli illnesses linked to romaine lettuce. The agency also reported Thursday that nine additional people have been reported ill since November 26.Now, 52 people have been infected with E. coli in this outbreak, which was announced in October, according to the CDC.Illnesses have been reported in 15 states: California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Wisconsin.Nineteen people have been hospitalized, including two who developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure. No deaths have been reported.Last month, the CDC and the US Food and Drug Administration updated their warning against eating or selling romaine lettuce products harvested in the California counties of Monterey, San Benito, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz and Ventura. 1110

The Scripps National Spelling Bee has released the 27 titles that are on its 2020-21 Great Words, Great Works booklist.The list of books is for students that span from first to eighth grade and will help students prep for their annual school spelling bee with a list of 450 words that are on the School Spelling Bee Study List each year."Parents and teachers are always looking (especially during the summer) for reading suggestions for kids," The Scripps National Spelling Bee said. The Sikh community is speaking out after a Sikh Canadian minister was asked to take off his turban while going through a TSA checkpoint at Detroit Metro Airport.The incident happened in April 2017.  Navdeep Bains, Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, went through the TSA checkpoint once without any issues but was asked to go through additional screenings because of his turban."Once they realized my position, who I was, I was ultimately allowed to fly but for me this is an issue that speaks for discrimination and discrimination happens with many people," Bains said. The agency is now issuing a statement and the U.S. government is apologizing to Canada.TSA responded to the incident saying in part: 767

The Sinclair Broadcast Group acquisition of Tribune Media is dead.Tribune said in a statement Thursday that it has terminated its merger agreement with Sinclair, scuttling a .9 billion deal that would have given the broadcasting group an even broader reach into American living rooms.The breakup of the deal is a stinging defeat for Sinclair, owner of dozens of local television stations. Sinclair has been scrutinized for its ties to the Trump administration.Tribune had been expected to walk away after the deal came under scrutiny from US regulators. The FCC in July referred the merger to an administrative judge hearing, and called into question whether some of Sinclair's proposed divestments were a "sham."Tribune said it will sue Sinclair for breach of contract, arguing Sinclair's negotiations with the US Justice Department and FCC were "unnecessarily aggressive.
