The coins went toward making the coalition's meal for the coalition's nearly 650 residents.The group provides housing, emergency services, and diversion for local homeless men, women, and children in Central Florida."Every year, thousands of guests toss coins into fountains at our Resort and make a wish, and this year the funds collected from those fountains are being given to the Coalition to help make their annual Thanksgiving meal service possible," according to Tajiana Ancora-Brown, director of external affairs at Walt Disney World Resort.According to the Associated Press, the feast required seven kitchens, 250 pounds of turkey, 60 gallons of gravy and cranberry compote, 300 pounds of cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes and green beans, 800 dinner rolls, and 72 apple and pumpkin pies.Walt Disney World also donated hundreds of to-go containers for the meal. 1175

A 73-year-old woman who was struck by a stray bullet while sitting in her kitchen has died.Investigators say the bullet entered her home off Dunn Road in Riley Township, Michigan on Sunday afternoon.Detectives told Scripps station WXYZ in Detroit a neighbor was shooting target practice at the time. They believe he may have missed a large pile of dirt he was trying to hit.They have seized at least two rifles from his home.The woman was rushed to the hospital where she later died.Her name is not being released. Charges may come as early as Monday morning.  598

A bill was introduced Wednesday that would prohibit the use of chemical weapons, including tear case amid policing activities.Democratic leaders, including Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Mark Takano (D-CA) and Jesus “Chuy” Garcia (D-IL) presented the bill, arguing that tear gas and other alleged “non-lethal” weapons have caused negative long-term health effects and could even lead to death.The bill comes amid nationwide protests following the death of George Floyd, a black man who died while in police custody on Memorial Day. During several protests across the country, officers used tear gas on protesters.The bill, Prohibiting Law Enforcement Use of Chemical Weapons Act, would ensure agencies of law enforcement do not possess chemical weapons. Weapons that fall under the act must be disposed of within a year of enactment.Leaders argued banning tear gas “is one of the many steps” that need to be taken to “fundamentally restructure the relationship between law enforcement and the communities they are supposed to protect and serve.”“To stop us from protesting the death of a black man who was suffocated by police, law enforcement is using a weapon that restricts our lungs -- during a respiratory pandemic,” said Rep. Ocasio-Cortez in a statement. “It is a horror on top of a horror on top of a horror - and it must end.”“There has been a disproportionate response by law enforcement to the peaceful protests occurring nationwide, often involving excessive force and the use of tear gas.
