Eight-time MLB All-Star pitcher Roy Halladay died on Tuesday at the age of 40 in a plane crash in the Gulf of Mexico, just off the coast of Pasco County, Florida, law enforcement officials confirmed.The crash occurred early Tuesday afternoon. Officials originally said that a plane with a tail number matching Halladay's private aircraft had gone down in the Gulf of Mexico. (KGTV) — One man suffered severe injuries after he was hit by a vehicle in El Cajon on Saturday.El Cajon Police said the collision occurred at Jamacha Rd. and Sunnyland Ave. just before 6:30 p.m. It wasn't immediately clear how the man was struck by the vehicle.The man suffered head trauma and a severed foot, according to police. He was found unconscious when police arrived before he was taken to a nearby hospital. His condition was not immediately known.The driver remained at the scene. ECPD said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor.Traffic on Jamacha Rd., from Lexington to Washington, will be closed for at least two hours while police investigate. 691
Dr. Anthony Fauci warned Sunday that even if a COVID-19 vaccine becomes available, it still may not yield herd immunity.In an interview with the Aspen Institute on Sunday, Fauci — the U.S.'s top infectious disease expert — said he would settle for a vaccine that is between 70 and 75% effective."I doubt seriously that any vaccine will ever be a hundred percent protective. Fauci said Sunday that if those figures hold true and a potential COVID-19 vaccine is only 75% effective, the U.S. population would not reach the herd immunity threshold that would kill the virus."That's one of the reasons why we have to make sure we engage the community as we're doing now to get community people, to help us for people to understand that we are doing everything we can to show that it's safe and that it's effective," Fauci said.
