CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A woman narrowly avoided being hit by a falling tree branch on a busy Chula Vista street Wednesday. A large branch fell from the eucalyptus tree along Telegraph Canyon Road about 3 p.m., crashing through the passenger side window of a woman’s car. Had a passenger been in the seat, the person would have been impaled, crews on the scene estimated. The woman pulled into the bike lane to assess the damage. She was able to walk independently but paramedics took her to the hospital for an assessment. No other cars were damaged, officials said. They’ve been making their own coffee for three months, four months now, and they want to go get a coffee that tastes like real coffee from a real espresso machine,” said Detweiler.He said another draw has been thanks to his business partner, the owner of Keto Dessert Company. James Baum usually delivers his sugar-free desserts to various locations in the Chula Vista area, so the partnership means one central place for locals to find his treats.Baum said his drive to sell keto dessert comes from his personal background.“They just thought I was a slow learner and then I got older and took this super long test of hundreds and hundreds of questions and realized I’m autistic,” said Baum.He said a sugar-free diet can benefit people with autism so he started the company as a way to bring dessert to keto diets. CINCINNATI -- In a “bold move,” Kroger will phase out plastic bags and transition to reusable bags by 2025, according to CEO Rodney McMullen.The Cincinnati-based grocery chain announced the switch Thursday, saying the move “will better protect our planet for future generations."Kroger-owned QFC in Seattle will be the first to make the transition; plastic bags are expected to be eliminated there by 2019.Kroger Executive Vice President Mike Donnelly said the decision aligns with the company’s commitment to making a positive social impact.  "We listen very closely to our customers and our communities, and we agree with their growing concerns," Donnelly said in a news release. McMullen said the move to nix plastic correlates with the company’s “Zero Hunger | Zero Waste commitment” -- a goal to divert waste from landfills and donate food to hungry families.The grocery chain has also been redesigned milk jugs in an effort to use less plastic, CNN reported. (KGTV) — Chula Vista Police showed off a new drone on Tuesday called the Skydio 2.The drone is designed to be easy to pilot, using cameras and sensors on all sides to detect objects before crashing into them.It also has the ability to track a person on auto-pilot.CVPD is the first law enforcement agency in the world to obtain the new drone.It joins their fleet of several other drones that have already been used in 1144 incidents and have led to 158 arrests. 489

(KGTV) -- A man was hospitalized after police said he was stabbed while attempting to sell his car in Chula Vista.The incident happened at an apartment complex parking lot in the 3000 block of Moss Street at around 10 p.m. Monday, according to Chula Vista police.The victim told police he was trying to sell his 2000 Volvo when a potential buyer attacked him during the transaction and then sped off in his car.Police said the victim was stabbed at least once in his neck, and he was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown as of Tuesday morning.Police are now searching for the car and at least one male suspect. A detailed descriptions of the assailant was not immediately available. 750
