SAN DIEGO (CNS & KGTV) -  Police believe a woman who crashed her car into a home in Talmadge  was intoxicated at the time.The crash happened about 2:30 p.m. Saturday at a home on Winona Avenue near Lucille Drive, according to San Diego police.A 23-year-old woman was driving her 2017 Honda on Winona Avenue at a high speed when she veered off the road and ran into the corner of a nearby home, according to San Diego Police Officer Robert Heims. The woman suffered serious head injuries and fractures to her right leg, and had to be taken to a hospital.No one in the home was injured.Police processed the driver for allegedly driving under the influence, Heims said.A building engineer was called in to assess structure damage, and the Red Cross helped with two residents displaced by the crash, San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesman Jose Ysea said. 880

Beginning July 1, California’s gas tax will increase by nearly six cents. Currently, the tax is 55.2 cents per gallon. When the additional tax kicks in, that figure will jump to more than 60 cents in taxes per gallon. Currently, the highest gas tax in the nation is in Pennsylvania at 58.7 cents. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A head-on collision Friday in Poway injured three people, one of them seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital.The collision occurred about 2 p.m. in the 15800 block of Poway Road, according to Sgt. David Toner of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.Upon arrival, deputies found both vehicles, Mazda coupe and a Nissan Sentra, with major front-end damage, Toner said.The investigation revealed the Mazda was eastbound on Poway Road and had drifted into the westbound lane when the collision occurred, according to the sergeant.The 25-year-old woman driving the Nissan and her 1-year-old son were taken to a hospital as a precaution, while the driver of the Mazda, a 28-year- old man, was airlifted to Palomar Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries, Toner said.MAP: Traffic conditions throughout San DiegoNeither alcohol nor drugs were suspected as factors in the collision, he said. 929
