Mott Children's Hospital conducted the national poll on children's health, and found that flu season could be worse as the nation is already dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.“We may see peaks of flu and COVID-19 at the same time, which could overwhelm the health care system, strain testing capacity and potentially reduce our ability to catch and treat both respiratory illnesses effectively,” Mott poll co-director Sarah Clark said in a release.Families least likely to not get the flu were those who didn't last year, according to the poll. About 96% of parents whose kids did get the flu shot said they intend to have their kids get it again.“Our report finds that even during the pandemic, some parents don’t see the flu vaccine as more urgent or necessary. This heightens concerns about how the onset of flu season may compound challenges in managing COVID-19," Clark said.“A key challenge for public health officials is how to reach parents who do not routinely seek seasonal flu vaccination for their child,” Clark added. “When getting a yearly flu vaccine is not a pattern, parents need to be prompted to think about why it’s essential for their child to get vaccinated.”The most common reason for kids not getting the vaccine, parents said, was concerns about side effects or the belief it isn't effective.“There is a lot of misinformation about the flu vaccine, but it is the best defense for children against serious health consequences of influenza and the risk of spreading it to others,” Clark says.14% of parents said they would not get their kids the flu shot because they are keeping them away from health care sites due to the risk of COVID-19 exposure. (KGTV) — Southbound lanes of Interstate 405 in Westchester were shut down on a busy Friday afternoon following a police pursuit.Six lanes of traffic built up for miles behind the closure just after Braddock Dr., after a police pursuit ended with seven home invasion suspects taken into custody, according to KABC.Los Angeles Police stopped a white SUV on I-405, forcing each suspect to exit and lay down on the freeway before they were arrested, helicopter footage from the scene showed.Traffic was opened back up just before 3:45 p.m. Even after lanes were reopened, heavy Friday traffic blanketed the southbound side of the freeway.Footage of the standstill below: 675

A billboard located near a busy highway in Kentucky was vandalized with an anti-gun message on Monday.Commuters on I-65 in Louisville noticed the billboard read "KILL THE NRA" on Monday morning. (KGTV) -- The brother of San Diego hiker Paul Hanks is talking about his ordeal in Joshua Tree National Park. The best news they have to share with the public - Hanks is expected to make a full recovery. "Sunday was his birthday, he turned 54," said Dr. Steven Hanks, his brother. "He likes to take a hike on his birthday so he had gone out to Joshua Tree National Park after spending the morning with (our) mother."RELATED: Missing San Diego hiker found injured in Joshua TreeThe 54-year-old left San Diego on Sunday, March 11. His brother said he was reported missing on Tuesday, March 13 after he failed to show up to a meeting with his ex-wife in Las Vegas. Hanks' truck was found near the Maze Loop and Hanks was found by a member of the Joshua Tree Search and Rescue crew on Thursday, March 15. According to his son-in-law, Hanks broke his ankle and fractured his skull after falling 20 feet. He was missing for four days and buried himself in the sand to stay warm, drinking rainwater to stay hydrated until he was found."He had a very harrowing experience. It's a compelling story of survival and we were just stunned when they found him," Hanks' brother said. "I think he's just incredibly thankful to be alive." When asked if he thought the experience hiker would ever return to Joshua Tree National Park, his brother said:"I think he'll absolutely go back. I do know if he goes back, he won't be going back without a satellite phone...a flare gun," he said, smiling. "He really thought he was going on a minimal risk venture.
