SEOUL, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- China is willing to deepen economic and trade cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties with the United States in a "constructive manner", a senior official from China's Ministry of Commerce said here Thursday.At a press conference held Thursday evening, Yu Jianhua, director general of the International Trade and Economic Affairs Department of Ministry of Commerce, said China does not want to get into confrontation with the United States in trade and exchange rate issues, though its second round of quantitative easing will have great impact on China and other emerging economies."On the contrary, we are willing to deepen economic and trade cooperation with the United States in a constructive manner," said Yu, who is also a member of the Chinese delegation to the G20 Seoul Summit which opened Thursday evening.He said Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao also proposed to deepen the bilateral economic and trade cooperation during a meeting with U.S. President Barak Obama in New York last September."Therefore, much common ground can be found in the China-U.S. cooperation. I am optimistic on the future of the two countries' relations," Yu said. Yu also stressed that China hopes to deal with the trade and currency issues through dialogue. These issues should not be politicized or internationalized, and bilateral issues should not develop to a multilateral one. ZHENGZHOU, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Seven company executives were suspended from duty or removed Monday after 26 miners were killed in a gas explosion in an illegally operated coal mine on Dec. 7 in central China's Henan Province, according to the group's spokesman.Forty-six miners were working underground when the blast occurred at the Juyuan Coal Mine, owned by Juyuan Coal Industry Co., Ltd. in Mianchi County, Sanmenxia City. The company is being merged into Yi Ma Coal Industry Group.Deputy general manager, Li Jianxin, of Yi Ma Coal Industry Group, the mine's prospective parent company, was suspended from duty pending investigation. Li was in charge of the group's merger and regrouping, said the group's spokesman.Manager Yao Nianshou and four deputy managers who were sent by the group to Juyuan Coal Industry Co., Ltd. were also removed, he said.The spokesman said the decisions to discipline the executives have been approved by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Henan Province. The final punishment for those responsible for the incident will be decided based on the findings of the on-going investigation.Managers of the Juyuan Coal Mine did not obtain a license to excavate coal from the site in Mianchi County, where the explosion occurred. Mine managers also ignored an order to halt production, as the mine's operations are being reorganized as part of the merger.The mine had been known as the Suzhuang Coal Mine and was later re-launched as Juyuan when it was merged into the large state-owned conglomerate Yi Ma Coal Industry Group.Police said they arrested the owner of the mine, Suo Yonggang, who allegedly hid the bodies of the victims to lessen the casualty count. Suo fled the mine following the blast.Mine managers first reported that only 20 miners were trapped when the blast occurred. Provincial work safety authorities updated the figure to 33 and then to 46 as investigators found more bodies in the mine. Only 20 miners survived.

MOSCOW, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Representatives and financial institutions from China and Russia on Wednesday signed 13 agreements worth eight billion U.S. dollars.Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov, the two chairmen from each side of the Joint Commission for China-Russia Regular Meetings of Heads of Government, attended the signing ceremony held at the fifth China-Russia economic and trade summit forum.Among the deals were two financial agreements worth 236 million dollars, 10 cooperative agreements on economy and technology totalling 5.3 billion dollars, and one trade agreement worth around 320 million dollars.The agreements covered a wide range of areas including commercial trade, investment, mining, manufacturing, construction and telecommunications equipment.The signing of the 13 agreements has fully demonstrated the continuous deepening and broadening economic cooperation between the enterprises of China and Russia, thanks to the efforts of the governments of the two countries.

BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- China's State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) on Friday moved to overhaul the supervision over country's dairy products in a bid to ensure food safety before the major Chinese festivals.Local food and drug administrations have been ordered to increase supervision over the trade and consumption of diary products and ensure that dairy products are not mixed with non-edible substances or food additives,read a notice posted on the SFDA's website.The SFDA asked restaurants to keep dairy product suppliers' contact information as well as valid documents which could help authorities identify the quality, specifications and expiration date of dairy products.Year-end is always a peak season for the Chinese to dine out, either with families or colleagues. The Spring Festival, or the Chinese lunar new year and the most important festival for the Chinese, falls on February 3.China's dairy industry was marred by a scandal in 2008, in which at least six infants died and almost 300,000 became ill across the country after consuming dairy products tainted with the industrial chemical melamine.To restore consumer confidence, the Chinese government launched a nationwide safety overhaul of dairy products in November 2008.
