SEOUL, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- China is willing to deepen economic and trade cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties with the United States in a "constructive manner", a senior official from China's Ministry of Commerce said here Thursday.At a press conference held Thursday evening, Yu Jianhua, director general of the International Trade and Economic Affairs Department of Ministry of Commerce, said China does not want to get into confrontation with the United States in trade and exchange rate issues, though its second round of quantitative easing will have great impact on China and other emerging economies."On the contrary, we are willing to deepen economic and trade cooperation with the United States in a constructive manner," said Yu, who is also a member of the Chinese delegation to the G20 Seoul Summit which opened Thursday evening.He said Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao also proposed to deepen the bilateral economic and trade cooperation during a meeting with U.S. President Barak Obama in New York last September."Therefore, much common ground can be found in the China-U.S. cooperation. BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- China reiterated its commitment to support Sudan's peace process, stressing that peace, stability and development of the country were of pivotal importance."The involved parties should resolve disputes through dialogue and consultation and work together to promote a smooth referendum in southern Sudan," Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi was quoted as saying in a press release issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry here Wednesday.Yang's remarks came during the talks with his visiting Sudanese counterpart Ahmed Ali Karti. BEIJING, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- China's central government on Friday declared new policies to encourage private funds, including overseas capital, to be channeled to the medical sector to meet the country's increasingly diversified demands on health care.The new policies, dubbed "guideline to encourage and lead social capital to sponsor health-care institutions" were posted on the central government's official website www.gov.cn.It clearly stipulated that social capital should enjoy preferential treatment when China is adjusting or increasing medical resources and social funds will be encouraged to participate in governmental restructuring of hospitals.Overseas investments are now welcomed to sponsor hospitals, while the procedures will be further simplified, according to the guideline.The general office of the State Council, or cabinet, required local governments to amend their documents accordingly and get rid of any policies that impede the development of non-governmental medical institutions.Also, the new policies encourage social funds to take part in governmental hospital reforms and convert some government-backed hospitals into non-governmental institutions to reduce the ratio of public hospitals, said an official with the medical and health care system reform office under the State Council.China will deepen the opening-up of medical institutions and turn the overseas-invested medical sector from the "limited (towards foreign investment)" category into a category that allows foreign investment, the official said.

CHENGDU, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- A spreading grassland fire in a mountainous Tibetan region in southwest China proved deadly when it trapped soldiers and local residents trying to put out the blaze. By Sunday night, at least 22 have been killed and three severely burned, local officials said.The wild fire was raging through a grassland atop a plateau some six kilometers from the county government seat in Daofu County, Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Garze, Sichuan Province. About 500 mu (33.3 hectares) of the grassland has burned, while 200 mu (13 hectares) is still on fire, a source with local fire-fighters told Xinhua."The fire line stretches several kilometers long. As it darkens at night, most fire-fighters have retreated to the camps." Yang Hao, a senior local fire-fighting official told reporters. "However, we are still closely monitoring the situation."Prairie fire is seen in Daofu County in southwest China's Sichuan Province, Dec. 5, 2010. At least 22 people have been killed in the prairie fire.About 2,000 people have joined the fire-fighting efforts. Sichuan Governor Jiang Jufeng led a work-team to Daofu, some 580 kilometers from provincial capital Chengdu, late Sunday night. An emergency medical team is also the en route to Daofu from Chengdu.Local officials said the grassland fire broke out at noon on Sunday and was brought under control at about 3 p.m. However, gusting winds boosted the flames and trapped people fighting the fire.Of the 22 fatalities, 15 were soldiers, two were workers with the grassland administration while five others were local civilians, officials said. Three of the severely injured have been rushed to hospitals.Gusting winds ebbed anew late Sunday night, providing favorable conditions to put out the flames, fire-fighters said.
