(KGTV) - Police are asking the public's help to identify a man suspected of trying to lure a child away from her mother at a North County Walmart.Oceanside Police said the incident occurred on Sept. 6 after a juvenile female and her mom shopping at the Walmart location at 705 College Boulevard reported a stolen cell phone.Police said security footage showed a man following the pair around the store and taking the juvenile's cell phone from their cart when they were not looking. The mother and daughter reported the phone stolen to security, according to police."Shortly after the girl and her mom reported the lost phone to security, the male started conversing with the juvenile and stated he had her phone in his vehicle," Bussey said.The man started talking with the juvenile, police said, and stated he had her cell phone in his vehicle, a white hatchback, possibly a Hyundai Elantra GT."The male was possibly attempting to lure the juvenile to his vehicle to retrieve the phone," OPD said in a release."I watch really closely. I've got a younger guy so he stays attached to my hip; thank goodness but this is gonna make me even more vigilant. (CNS) - Police identified a 43-year-old man armed with a machete who allegedly stabbed a police dog and broke a patrol vehicle's window in Oceanside.About 5 p.m. Tuesday, an officer was inside a vehicle, stopped at a traffic light on College Boulevard and Plaza Drive, when he saw the suspect, Noomane Trabelsi, across the street yelling at him, according to Oceanside Police Department Public Information Officer Tom Bussey.The suspect allegedly approached the vehicle swinging a machete and broke the driver's side window, Bussey said.The officer suffered minor injuries and called for assistance. A perimeter was established, and the suspect was seen near the Mossy Nissan dealership, at 3535 College Blvd., and officers tried to make contact with him, according to Bussey.Trabelsi went into a nearby ravine, prompting officers to deploy a police dog, according to Bussey.Trabelsi allegedly stabbed the dog, named Chico, in his head and then stabbed himself multiple times in his stomach, Bussey said. Chico was taken to a veterinarian and is expected to recover, according to Bussey.Officers, assisted by a San Diego County Sheriff's Department helicopter, searched for Trabelsi for two hours in tough terrain, according to Bussey.Trabelsi was located, arrested and taken to Scripps La Jolla to be treated for the self-inflicted injuries, Bussey said. 1381

(KGTV) - Two North County bars have voluntarily closed down because of positive COVID tests.Last Friday, Kate Dionisio went to dinner with her husband at Masters Kitchen and Cocktail."We had dinner and one drink, and stayed about an hour," said Dionisio.A week later, Dinoisio, who has an underlying health condition, says the night of celebration has sparked anxiety."Panic. Scary. We've been so careful with masks and taking precautions, but this felt out of my control," said Dionisio.On Thursday, on the bar's Facebook page, a message announced a recent positive coronavirus test and a voluntary closure for two weeks to best ensure everyone's "health and safety." The bar's owner says an employee was tested on Monday, with the positive result coming on Wednesday. The next day, the same day of the Masters post on Facebook, there was a similar message put up by Mission Avenue Bar and Grill, just a few blocks away. In this case, two employees tested positive. Their post stressed that safety is "our highest priority." It also promised a sanitization by a professional cleaning company. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A man was taken into custody in Oceanside on Monday morning after police say he broke into a short-term rental and sexually assaulted a woman. The sexual assault happened around 4 a.m. on the 800 block of South Pacific Street. According to police, Kwahmell Archer entered the home through an unlocked front door. Oceanside Police said there were 20 people inside the three-story rental when the suspect walked into a closet, got undressed and entered a sleeping woman’s bedroom. The 49-year-old woman woke up and screamed when the man grabbed her, waking up the rest of the house. Police said the suspect then ran back into the closet and was pinned inside by other people inside the house. Police arrived and took the man into custody. 773
