SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Some residents picking up trash in a City Heights neighborhood were met by a disturbing sight and an ominous warning near a homeless encampment.Blocks from an elementary school on Fairmont Avenue, Matt Armstrong and a friend collected more than seven bags of trash in a culvert near the small encampment Wednesday. The next day, he and his friend were at it again, when they saw it. In front of a tent and hanging from a limb was a noose and a handmade sign inches away."It says, 'Trespassers will hang by the heads,'" said Armstrong.Armstrong, a black belt, wasn't intimidated, but the warning is one he takes seriously."Something like this sends a message that they will hurt you. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police say the man found shot behind a Midway District strip mall was the victim of an armed robbery.Police received a call on Wednesday just after 6 p.m. over shots fired and a vehicle collision in the 3600 block of Midway Dr. Officers arrived to find a grey Acura had crashed into a retaining wall behind several businesses. Inside, the driver had been shot at least once.The man, identified as 18-year-old Eduardo Salguero of San Diego, was taken to a nearby hospital but died of his injuries.Investigators say they've learned that Salguero had arranged to purchase an item through Snapchat. When he arrived to meet the sellers, two Hispanic males entered his vehicle. During the meeting, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and the transaction turned into an armed robbery.Multiple gunshots were fired inside the vehicle, police said. The two suspects then fled on foot. Police only described the suspects as Hispanic males, between 20-30 years old, who were wearing dark clothing at the time. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Several City Heights homes were evacuated Tuesday afternoon after authorities responding to a medical call found possible military ordnance. The incident began after San Diego Police were called to the scene to investigate a death at 50th and Wightman Streets around 2 p.m. Shortly after police arrived, San Diego Fire Rescue says bomb units responded to the area after what is believed to be a military ordnance was discovered. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- SeaWorld San Diego’s Skyride reopened Wednesday after a ‘”gust of significant wind” caused the ride to close in mid-February. According to SeaWorld, the park, along with the ride’s manufacturer and the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health inspected various parts of the ride over the last several months, including the towers, gondolas, ride cables and various other equipment. SeaWorld says the ride’s communication cable was also replaced.
