A Nashville family celebrated a World War II veteran's 99th birthday this Memorial Day weekend with cake and a lot of war stories.Joe B. Davis fought three years with the 1st Infantry Division from November 1942 to November 1945. He was stationed in Algeria, Tunisia, and Sicily."I was in Infantry, you see, they had it pretty rough. A Utah man is suing McDonald's and Coca-Cola's main bottler, Swire Coca-Cola, after he allegedly had his drink spiked at a McDonald's with the heroin substitute Suboxone.In a complaint filed in Utah's Third Judicial District Court, the plaintiff Trevor Walker alleges that his diet coke was spiked on Aug. 12, 2016, at a McDonald's drive-thru in Riverton, Utah.According to the complaint, Walker and his family went through the drive-thru, where they ordered two happy meals, two chicken sandwiches, and two Diet Cokes.Walker drank the beverage as he and his family went home, the complaint stated. While watching his children, Walker said that his fingers became non-responsive, and he began to lose feeling in his arms and legs."My life and being here is the biggest miracle of the whole situation," Walker told KTSU-TV in Utah. "As I started to shift my body, I started to sense almost like a lapse in time, like between the time I would move my hands there was a delay."The complaint said that during the incident, Walker sent the following text messages to his wife:Text No. 1: "Something is vey (sic) wrong with me. I am having sensations in my arms and everything is moving slowly. I'm feeling scared. I don't know what to do."Text No. 2: "I'm so scared I'm trying to be calm. The plaintiff said that police responded to the hospital and took the drink for testing at the Utah State Crime Lab.The complaint said that the Utah State Crime Lab confirmed the drink contained a heroin substitute called buprenorphine or Suboxone. An Amber Alert was issued for her Monday, and the FBI has added her to its online list of kidnapped or missing people."We believe Jayme was in the home at the time of the homicides and we believe she's still in danger," Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said this week.The investigation began when someone called 911 shortly before 1 a.m. Monday. A Pacific Beach woman was hospitalized after tripping over a dockless scooter left next to a traffic light on Garnet Avenue.The incident happened July 1, the day the city began enforcing scooter regulations. Ellie Fellers, who is in her 80s, was trying to cross Mission Boulevard at Garnet Avenue to mail a letter. She says she pressed the button to cross on the the traffic light, which was surrounded by unused scooters. Once she got the signal, she turned to cross but tripped over a scooter.Fellers says she suffered two concussions and a bleed above her adrenal gland. "Enough of this," Fellers told the City Council Tuesday. "The money you're making on those scooters can't possibly make up for the amount that it's costing you."The new city rules call for painted corrals that designate where scooter riders can leave the devices. However, they're currently only located in downtown. On Wednesday in Pacific Beach, there were scooters left along the sidewalks or toppled over in piles.
