RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond Police are investigating after someone spray-painted "White Lives Matter" across a statue of black tennis legend Arthur Ashe statue along Monument Avenue in Richmond.Ashe, a Richmond-born tennis star and humanitarian, was the first black man to win U.S Open and Wimbledon titles.Wednesday's incident at the Ashe statue comes after weeks protests against police brutality both in Richmond and around the country.Statues along Monument Avenue honoring Confederate leaders like Robert E. (AP) -- Sodas and energy drinks in California could soon come with a warning about increased risks for diabetes and tooth decay under a bill that has narrowly cleared the state Senate.The Senate voted 21-11 on Thursday to require warning labels on sugar-sweetened drinks that contain 75 calories or more per 12 fluid ounces. The label would be on the front of the container, in bold type and separate from all other information.The bill passed despite significant opposition from the beverage industry. Records show the American Beverage Association spent more than 3,000 since January lobbying against the bill and others.Other proposals that would have taxed soda and banned "Big Gulp" style drinks were shelved earlier this year.Bill author Sen. RICHMOND, Va. — Despite a recent extension of student loan relief, experts suggest borrowers should begin preparing now for repayments to begin."The best thing you can do right now is to set a plan forward for your repayment," said Andrew Pentis, who works with LendingTree. "It's possible that this moratorium could be extended by the Biden administration or the newly-elected Congress. But Biden takes office on Jan. 20 and the current moratorium is expected to end right now at Jan. 31. So that only leaves you know less than two weeks for a decision to be made on whether the moratorium will be extended."Pentis said that since March, millions of student loan borrowers have been given an administrative forbearance, which suspended payments and interest and stopped collections on all defaulted student loans. He said borrowers with government-held federal student loans did not incur penalties during the moratorium."If you have an eligible federal student loan and you're seeing any of those negative impacts such as your credit score being affected your credit report showing and delinquent account, it's best to contact your federal loan servicers," Pentis said.For borrowers struggling to afford payments, Pentis suggested they enroll in an income-driven repayment plan to lower monthly payments.
