SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man arrested Tuesday after leading authorities on a pursuit through the East County Tuesday is being charged with two separate stabbings that occurred hours earlier.San Diego County Sheriff's (SDSO) deputies arrested Patrick Douglas, 51, near Highway 94 and Freezer Blvd. following a vehicle pursuit with deputies earlier Tuesday.Douglas was charged with two counts of attempted murder in connection with two stabbings the same day in El Cajon and La Mesa.Deputies said the La Mesa stabbing occurred at the 7-Eleven at 4610 Avocado Blvd. A female delivery driver for Frito Lays, identified as 35-year-old Dina Hammond, staggered into the store with multiple stab wounds to her upper torso after having just made a delivery. 757

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A powerful 7.5-magnitude earthquake along Mexico’s southern coastline Tuesday was felt hundreds of miles away.Thousands of people ran into the streets as buildings swayed back and forth. A hospital in Mexico City was evacuated; patients were sent to wait outside until they were given the all-clear.According to Mexico’s civil protection agency, four people were confirmed dead.The earthquake was centered just east of the popular tourist destination Huatulco, Oaxaca. According to Mexican officials, the damage was not widespread.“Right now, we’re working together with the Mexican Army, the Mexican Marines, and the National Guard,” said Ricardo Gamez, personal secretary to the mayor of Huatulco.“The Mayor, Giovanne González García, has visited hospitals, checking buildings, homes,” he said. “We have a lot of damage. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man died after an SUV veered off a freeway in the National City area and crash landed in the Sweetwater River Friday morning.The California Highway Patrol said the incident involving a Lexus SUV was reported just before 5:40 a.m. on the westbound side of state Route 54, near the transition to Interstate 5.ABC 10News learned a woman was walking on a bike path along the Sweetwater River when she saw a vehicle come off the freeway and down an embankment.The woman told authorities that the SUV almost hit her and then crashed in the water.Authorities at the scene confirmed that a man believed to be the driver was pulled from the water but died despite life-saving measures at the scene. The CHP identified the man as a 69-year-old Chula Vista resident.A team of divers was sent into the water to determine if more people were in the SUV, but no other victims were located. The CHP later confirmed the deceased male was the SUV's lone occupant.A tow truck helped pull the vehicle from the water.The cause of the crash is under investigation and anyone who may have witnessed the incident is urged to contact local authorities. 1158

The Port of San Diego this week approved a 10-year lease with the owners and operators of Carnitas Snack Shack, Broken Yolk, and Little Italy food hall to open a new kind of restaurant at Seaport Village.The new restaurant, which will be on the east end of the property, will have a "Sam the Cooking Guy" concept. Sam Zien, also known as Sam the Cooking Guy, is a celebrity chef who aims to make cooking more down-to-earth, using ingredients that come from the everyday supermarket.
