(KGTV) — A Poway High School student has been arrested for allegedly making threats to shoot classmates.Friday, the parent of a Poway High student reported several threats were made by another student, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department.The student, who was not named, was in an argument with a group of students and threatened to bring a gun to school and shoot the students, SDSO said.Deputies responded to the student's home but did not find a firearm at the home.The student was taken to Juvenile Hall and charged with making criminal threats.SDSO reminds parents and students that deputies investigate all schools threats and encourages them to report any perceived threats to authorities. 754

President Donald Trump provided an update to the White House’s response to the coronavirus pandemic at a news conference on Wednesday.While coronavirus deaths are on the rise, cases appear to be leveling off. On Tuesday, there were 1,399 coronavirus-related deaths reported, according to Johns Hopkins University figures.While the positivity rate has dropped off slightly in recent days (from 8.6% to 8.3%), some public health experts are baffled by a drop in testing. Data indicates that fewer Americans are being tested for the virus. Part of the reason could be due to delays in getting results.Johns Hopkins University data indicates that 28 states saw a decline in testing. Among the states seeing declines in testing are Florida, Mississippi, Georgia and Arkansas, which are seeing higher positivity rates compared to the rest of the US. Only eight states have ramped up testing, according to the data.Despite the drop in testing, the White House has said that the US has “created the best COVID-19 testing system in the world.”“The United States also has far and away the most robust testing capacity in the world,” Trump said on Tuesday. “Testing has been incredible, what we’ve been able to do. Nobody is even close. Since March 12th, we’ve increased daily testing by 32,000 percent. How’s that?”While public health experts suggest that more tests would lead to a lower positivity rate, America’s positivity rate remains much higher than a number of developed nations, including Canada, Spain, Germany and Italy. (KGTV) - A rash of water balloons turned ‘missiles’ have shaken up drivers on roadways near Highway 67 in Poway.Ron Woodard was heading home from work on Poway Road around 9 p.m. Tuesday. He was going about the speed limit - 55 miles per hour - when he saw the headlights of an oncoming vehicle as it drove past him."All of a sudden my windshield explodes. Glass is flying. Glass flies in my face. Luckily, I had my glasses on," said Woodard.Woodard, a trucker by trade, maintained control. He was only feet from a cliff."It shocked me, like being slapped in the face," said Woodard.He pulled over when he could safely do so, and checked out the damage."The water was dripping down the middle of the glass," said Woodard.Water, as in a water balloon. "When I saw this my anger just went out the roof. I could have lost control. I could have rolled my car," said Woodard.Woodard's wife posted details on Facebook, leading to reports of four other similar incidents in the Poway and Ramona area in the past few weeks, including two others that same night."One lady said it was a truck, and it was a water balloon," said Woodard.Another driver discovered ice chunks after he was hit, apparently from a frozen water balloon.
