SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - One man is dead and another injured after a shooting in City Heights Saturday night. 31-year old Dionte Floyd was killed and 38-year old Dashe Wallace was seriously injured, police said. Wallace's condition was unknown as of Sunday afternoon.According to police, the shooting happened around 6 p.m. on the corner of El Cajon Boulevard and 52nd Street. Police said two groups were involved in a fight when someone started shooting. Two of the men were shot several times before the suspects left the area. Police are reviewing surveillance footage to try to figure out what happened and find the suspects involved. 641

According to police, the crash happened near 10th Avenue and Market Street around 4 p.m. San Diego Police say a semi-truck crashed into a car, causing the vehicle to slam into the building. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Providing hungry children with food during the school year is a problem many institutions seek out solutions to, but may struggle with during the summer months outside of school.Sweetwater Union High School District is offering free meals to children at two locations from June 10 - 28 as part of their "Seamless Summer" feeding program. Children must be 18-years-old and younger to qualify for the free meal.No registration is needed and the meals are absolutely free, according to the school district.Children can receive the free meals at Montgomery High School (3250 Palm Ave., San Diego) or Sweetwater Union High School (2900 Highlands Ave., National City) Monday through Friday from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. 740

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Port of San Diego Commissioners saw the latest draft of the new Port Master Plan this week while allowing people who live in the area one more chance to weigh in on the region's future.The Port Master Plan is a 51-page document that will guide development along the San Diego Bay. This is the Plan's first update since it was created in 1981."For the first time, we include elements, or chapters of goals, objectives, and policies that will guide issues that apply Bay-wide, not just specific to individual locations," says Lesley Nishihira, the Port's Planning Director.The new Master Plan calls for more hotel development, with nearly 4500 new rooms on Harbor Island and the Embarcadero. But it prohibits new hotel rooms on Shelter Island, the Coronado Bayfront, and the Silver Strand.RELATED: Planned park could impact USS Midway MuseumIt also includes provisions for height restrictions on new buildings, a plan to turn the parking lot at Navy Pier into park space, and commercial industry use guidelines along the Bay.Port employees have been working on it for nearly eight years, with the Port Commissioners holding 40 meetings about the Plan, as well as dozens of public forums.But critics say it is too focused on tourism and industry and does not do enough to help out San Diego residents who live along the Bay, particularly in low-income areas south of the Convention Center."The status quo isn't good enough for the community," says former City Councilman David Alvarez, who has been vocal in his criticism of the new Plan. "We've seen the pollution. We've seen the impacts; the parking problems, the lack of access to the water (for low-income residents)."Alvarez brought these issues up at a public comment session on Monday. He says, to his surprise, the Commissioners voted unanimously to make sure more Social and Environmental Equity issues go into the Plan.Port employees say they will include specific policies in the final draft to ensure all San Diegans can benefit from the Bay."We'll take a closer look at those policies and see where we can include more information to make sure we're truly addressing the issues as needed," says Nishihira.Port employees are now finishing the Final Draft of the new Master Plan. It should be completed by the summer of 2021. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police are alerting San Diego State students and neighbors after a man reportedly tried to steal a someone's phone before fleeing in a waiting vehicle.SDSU Police say the man approached the victim at about 9 p.m. in the 5500 block of Hardy Avenue on Wednesday. The man wrapped his arms around the victim and tried to take a cell phone from their hands, police say.The victim crouched down, grabbed their cell phone, and began screaming. A passerby saw what was happening and intervened, pulling the man off the victim.The man then jumped in to rear of a white sedan with tinted windows being driven by a second suspect.Police described the first suspect as a black male who appeared about 30 years old, 6-feet tall, with average build, short curly black hair and short facial hair. He was last seen shirtless, wearing dark-colored pants and basketball-style sneakers.The suspect in the waiting vehicle was described as a 20- to 30-year-old black female, wearing a gray or white shirt and her hair styled in a bun.Anyone with information is asked to call SDSU Police at 619-594-1991. 1109
