A judge in Georgia has dismissed a Trump campaign lawsuit that raised concerns about a handful of absentee ballots in Chatham County.The Associated Press reports that Chatham County Superior Court Judge James Bass dismissed the lawsuit and did not provide an explanation for his decision at the close of a one-hour hearing.The lawsuit concerned 53 absentee ballots that were not part of an original batch of ballots. At the hearing, county officials testified that the ballots in question had been received on time.The decision comes as Joe Biden continues to narrow the razor-thin lead that President Donald Trump currently has in the state.Donald Trump held a 1.2% advantage in the state with 96% of the expected vote counted on Wednesday evening.As of Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. ET, Georgia Sec. of State Brad Raffensperger's says that about 47,000 votes remained uncounted. Echoing comments made at a morning press conference, officials said they hope they will be able to finish the count by the end of the day.Trump won the state by 5% in 2016. A man is hospitalized, but expected to survive, after his girlfriend struck him with her car following a domestic argument, according to police in Port St. Lucie, Florida.The incident happened in the 1900 block of W. Dunbrooke Circle.Police said the man got out of the car and began walking down the street and the woman then dropped off her baby at their house, drove back to where the man was walking and hit him.Video posted by police shows crime scene tape around a car which appears to have a big dent in the hood and a shattered windshield.The man, described as the woman's 24-year-old live-in boyfriend, was airlifted to a hospital with head trauma.  He was undergoing surgery late Wednesday afternoon.Police did not identify either person but said the investigation continues. “It sounded like a car hitting a shopping cart," said Lance Chmura who lives just across the street from the crash scene. He was making breakfast around 9 a.m. when he heard the impact and ran out to help.“I went down, grabbed his hand and stabilized him because he was starting to thrash around a bit," said Chmura.The impact of the crash was so intense it sent the man flying 35 yards down the street.“She (the girlfriend) then left the scene, drove back home.  Her relative got in car and came back to the scene," said Master Sgt. Frank Sabol with Port St. Lucie Police.The victim’s grandmother would not reveal what the girlfriend said to her immediately after the crash, but said the couple had a good relationship and had just moved down here last month. She said she thinks this was an accident.“I think they were just playing around and didn’t realize the severity of it," said the grandmother.“The initial investigation determines she was on the wrong side of the road when he was struck," added Sgt. Sabol.Right now, it’s being investigated as a case of domestic violence. No arrests have been made.  1948

A high-ranking Transportation Security Administration official says the agency is falling short when it comes to protecting airport screeners and the public from the new coronavirus while at the country's airports, according to published reports. The Officer of Special Counsel, a federal office that handles whistleblower complaints, has ordered an investigation by the Department of Homeland Security. The whistleblower's charges were reported by the Washington Post and National Public Radio. Several publications identify the whistleblower as TSA Federal Security Director Jay Brainard, who is the official in charge of transportation security in Kansas. "You've got communities shutting down. You've got governors shutting things down. And we still hadn't mandated masks. We still hadn't mandated eyewear. We still weren't changing personal protective equipment as often as we needed to," Brainard told NPR. "Every federal security director was forced to fend for him or herself."TSA says it follows guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and that screeners now wear masks and nitrile gloves. But the whistleblower says there are still gaps, including no procedure for handling travelers who appear to be sick.Brainard has been a whistleblower before, most recently in December when he told CNN he was worried about loosened security at airports. 1386
