(KGTV) — San Diego Sheriff's Department has identified the man fatally shot by deputies inside an East County Del Taco last week.SDSO said a call was made on Jan. 5 just after 8:30 p.m. that a customer at the Del Taco located at 7060 Broadway had pointed a handgun at the caller while inside the restaurant. Deputies arrived and said they attempted to make contact with the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Adolfo Gonzalez, but he produced a handgun and a deputy-involved shooting occurred.The deputies who fired at Gonzalez were identified as SDSO deputies Cenizo, Daly, and Dow, according to the department. LANATANA, Florida — A man jumped out of bushes and randomly attacked a woman with a chainsaw around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, Lantana police said.The woman, who is in her 60s, was walking along Hypoluxo Road near Seacrest Boulevard when the man attacked her, according to police.The woman was taken to a local hospital for with serious injuries to the chest and hands but is expected to survive.Lantana police have the attacker in custody. They identified him as 20-year-old Juan Cabrera Jr."He actually made a comment that he woke up this morning, went and got something to eat. We can't confirm or deny if he's got any kind of mental illness or not. But he did make a comment to the investigator that he saw the lady in the area and he quote stated, 'I'm going to end this woman's life,' " Lantana Police Chief Sean Scheller said.The incident occurred near the Super 8 Motel at 1200 Hypoluxo Blvd., where the suspect was staying.The woman said she did not know the man and thought he was a landscaper, police said. Lawyers for CNN and the Trump administration are awaiting an initial ruling on the network's federal lawsuit over press access to the White House.And they're going to have to wait a little while longer.Judge Timothy J. Kelly heard nearly two hours of oral arguments about CNN's request for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction on Wednesday. Then he said court would reconvene Thursday at 3 p.m.But on Thursday afternoon, he rescheduled the next hearing for Friday at 10 a.m.If Kelly grants CNN's requests on Friday, CNN chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta would get his press pass back for a short period of time. If it's denied, Acosta's pass will remain suspended.Either way, this is just round one. By filing for a temporary restraining order, CNN is seeking what's known as "emergency relief." CNN is arguing that Acosta's First Amendment rights are being violated every day he is banned from White House grounds.CNN is also asking for "permanent relief," meaning a declaration from the judge that Trump's revocation of Acosta's press pass was unconstitutional. This legal conclusion could protect other reporters from retaliation by the administration.But the judge will not be ruling on that yet. Kelly is only expected to weigh in on the temporary status of Acosta's press pass.Further hearings are likely to take place in the next few weeks, according to CNN's lawyers.The lawsuit alleges violations of the First and Fifth Amendments.Kelly, a Trump appointee, has been on the federal bench just more than a year now. He was very inquisitive at Wednesday's hearing, asking tough questions of both sides, drilling particularly deep into some of CNN's arguments.A Justice Department lawyer, James Burnham, argued that the Trump White House has the legal right to kick out any reporter at any time for any reason.Burnham, who's been tasked with defending President Trump and several White House aides from CNN and Jim Acosta's lawsuit, was responding to a hypothetical from Kelly. Burnham said that it would be perfectly legal for the White House to revoke a journalist's press pass if it didn't agree with their reporting. Trump crystal clear.Attorney Theodore Boutrous, representing CNN in court, called Trump's move to revoke Acosta's hard pass "the definition of arbitrariness and capriciousness.""What are the standards?" (KGTV) – Two people were found dead and two others were taken to the hospital after a fire tore through a La Jolla home early Monday morning.San Diego Fire-Rescue Department officials said the fire was reported at around 3:45 a.m. at a home in the 2500 block of Caminito La Paz, near La Jolla Parkway.Responding firefighters worked to douse the two-alarm blaze but the flames completely destroyed the home’s second floor.A fire official at the scene told ABC 10News the roof was “gone” after the home essentially “closed in.” By 6 a.m., crews were able to enter the home’s first floor through a side entrance.As flames engulfed the house, a man and his daughter were able to escape. The man suffered unspecified burn-related injuries and was taken to the hospital. The injured man's daughter accompanied him to the hospital, but there is no word on if she sustained any injuries.Two people were unaccounted for after the fire erupted. A family member told ABC 10News the two missing people were an 80-year-old grandfather and the injured man's other daughter, who had autism and was non-verbal.At around 9 a.m., firefighters inside the home recovered two bodies presumed to be the two missing people.Neighbor Pat Nissan, who lives on the same street, was concerned after learning two people were missing.“There was screaming and yelling. I started hearing glass breaking,” Nissan told ABC 10News.Family members said the home was occupied by the man, grandfather, and the man’s two daughters.The cause of the fire is under investigation. 1561

(KGTV) -- The woman authorities say was hit and killed by a suspected DUI driver Monday evening has been identified as 41-year-old Susana Gotell. Throughout the day Tuesday, flowers brought to the area by residents adorned the place where Gotell was killed. Meanwhile, the Santee man who officers say was driving under the influence could face first-degree murder charges.CHP says the driver, Michael Woodfill, 46, hit a fence on North Woodside Avenue around 6:30 p.m. When Woodfill tried to get back onto the road, he overcorrected, crossing both lanes and hitting the jogger.RELATED: Woman hit, killed by suspected DUI driver in LakesideOfficers returned to the scene Tuesday to reconstruct the scene. Woodfill had a DUI back in 2016 after officers say he was found with an excessive blood alcohol level. One month later, his license was reinstated with restrictions. Earlier this year, Woodfill’s license was also suspended after officials say he had no insurance, but was later reinstated five days later.When the crash happened Monday, Woodfill was driving on a restricted license. Woodfill is currently being held without bail after being arrested for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. 1256
