SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man accused of carrying out a series of credit union heists in San Diego County, stealing more than ,000 over a three-month span, pleaded not guilty Friday to 10 felony counts, including robbery and attempted robbery.Karl Doron, 43, was arrested Tuesday after he entered the Navy Federal Credit Union, 6755 Mira Mesa Blvd., and allegedly demanded cash from the employees, according to FBI Special Agent Davene Butler.Police officers and FBI agents had been monitoring Doron based on information they had gathered in an investigation that began in late December, when the first robbery occurred, Butler said.Upon leaving the credit union, he was taken into custody without incident and found to be carrying a loaded handgun, the agent said.RELATED: FBI searching for 'Gloved Robber' in series of credit union heistsDeputy District Attorney Andy Aguilar said Doron, whose alleged spree started three days after Christmas, used gloves, glasses, coats and other clothing to mask his identity. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Former Navy SEAL Edward Gallagher, who was acquitted of murder and attempted murder charges last year stemming from allegations that he fatally stabbed a wounded teenage ISIS fighter and shot Iraqi civilians, is suing the Secretary of the Navy and a New York Times reporter, alleging the reporter defamed Gallagher with the help of Navy officials illegally leaking him documents.The suit accuses the Navy of leaking "about 500 pages of confidential documents from the Navy's criminal investigation" on Gallagher to reporter David Philipps, who extensively covered the allegations against Gallagher prior to and after his trial at Navy Base San Diego last year.The suit also names as a defendant Navy Secretary Kenneth J. Braithwaite, who was sworn in to his post Friday, the same day Gallagher's lawsuit was filed in San Diego federal court.Representatives of the Navy and New York Times could not immediately be reached for comment.Gallagher was acquitted in July of several serious charges related to the alleged slaying of a teenage boy, as well as allegations of firing indiscriminately on civilians from a sniper's nest, which could have had him facing life in prison. However, he was only convicted of posing with the teen's body in a photograph, resulting in a demotion in rank. "They would illegally provide him with certain protected documents, in clear violation of the Privacy Act and court orders, so that Philipps could write a damning portrayal of Chief Gallagher, with reckless disregard for the truth."The suit, which seeks unspecified damages, alleges Gallagher has suffered "significant mental and emotional anguish" through the Navy's "violations of the Privacy Act and unlawful disclosure of Chief Gallagher's private information to David Philipps."The lawsuit is not the first time Gallagher's attorneys have accused Navy officials of misconduct.Gallagher's defense team previously alleged Navy prosecutors used tracking software to spy on the email accounts of the defense and a Navy Times reporter covering the trial.The trial judge, Capt. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities reached out to the public Wednesday for help in identifying a man seen fleeing the scene of a deadly shooting in the Chollas Creek neighborhood.Officers responding to reports of gunfire near Colina Park Golf Course about 2:30 p.m. Friday found 26-year-old Lazaro Orozco mortally wounded in the 4000 block of 52nd Street, according to San Diego police. Medics took Orozco to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.A man believed to be the shooter was seen running out of the area to the west following the shooting, Lt. Matthew Dobbs said.The suspect was described as a roughly 5-foot-7-inch Latino in his 20s or early 30s, wearing plaid shorts, a white shirt, a blue jacket, white tennis shoes and what appeared to be a cast or bandage on his left arm.Investigators believe the deadly shooting occurred during a roadside fight between the two men. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - An alleged drunken driver was going 121 mph when he caused a fiery freeway pileup that killed two men and seriously injured a woman on Interstate 15 last year, a prosecutor told jurors Tuesday, but a defense attorney claimed an off-duty San Diego police sergeant is actually to blame for the deaths.Jeffrey Brian Levi, 39, is charged with murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, hit-and-run and drunken driving, for the Jan. 2, 2018, deaths of 33-year-old Jesus David Dominguez and 19-year-old Isaac Felix, who were burned to death inside a Toyota Corolla that was struck at about 11:45 that night in the fast lane of northbound Interstate 15 near Miramar Road.Giovanna Dominguez -- Jesus Dominguez's sister and Felix's girlfriend - - was also a passenger in the Corolla. Raymond Rowe then struck the Corolla, which burst into flames and left Dominguez and Felix trapped inside the burning wreckage, while bystanders pulled Giovanna Dominguez out.The Ford Explorer overturned, coming to rest upside down, and Rowe was treated for minor to moderately serious injuries.Aguilar alleged that about three hours after the crash, Levi had a blood-alcohol content of 0.16%, which is twice the legal limit.Levi, who was charged with murder due to a 2007 misdemeanor DUI conviction, faces 40 years to life in prison if convicted.Defense attorney Amanda Waddle alleged that Rowe was "an unreasonable and negligent driver" who should be held liable for the deadly wreck. According to Waddle, Rowe was speeding, failed to wear his prescription glasses and was looking in his rearview mirror at the time of impact.Aguilar noted that Rowe often used his rearview mirror to spot anyone who might be trailing him from the police station to his home, a risk that Rowe potentially faced as a member of the department's gang unit.In addition to not paying attention, Waddle said that Rowe failed to use evasive maneuvers that were part of his police training."This was the direct result of that secondary, very violent crash where Sgt.
