CHENGDU, Nov. 12 (Xinhua)-- The reconstruction of the Erwang Temple, which was damaged in the Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008, is expected to finish on Nov. 18 in southwest China's Sichuan Province, according to local heritage protection authorities on Friday.Sitting in the Yulei Mountains in Dujiangyan City, Erwang Temple was built over 2,000 years ago to commemorate Li Bing and his son, the two engineers who built the Dujiangyan irrigation system, which was listed as a World Heritage site in 2000.The temple will soon be partially open for visitors and the final touches are being added to the water supply, drainage system and lavatories in these areas, said Fan Tuoyu, deputy chief of the Dujiangyan Cultural Relics Administration.The entire temple will be opened after the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on Feb. 3, 2011, said Fan.The reconstruction project kicked off in June, 2008 with an investment of 126 million yuan (19 million U.S. dollars) from the central budget.The temple was seriously damaged in the Wenchuan earthquake with almost all the ancient buildings having collapsed.

SANTIAGO, Chile, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chilean President Sebastian Pinera and visiting Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong met here Wednesday to discuss the development of relations between their two countries since the establishment of diplomatic ties 40 years ago.Pinera said that Chile was the first South American country to establish diplomatic relations with China. KUNMING, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Ten people were detained following a dispute between coal mine contractors which led to a deliberate explosion, killing nine people and injuring 48 others in southwestern Yunnan Province, local police said Sunday.The explosion occurred at around 9 a.m. Thursday at a temporary shed built by the Xiaosongdi coal mine in Luxi county of Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, according to local officials.Most of the casualties, however, were said to be with Yuejin coal mine, which is at dispute with Xiaosongdi coal mine.Local police concluded based on preliminary investigations the explosion was created by people.According to local authorities, the contractors for Xiaosongdi mine and Yuejin coal mine, which are close to each other, reportedly had a dispute after the underground shaft of one mine broke through into the other.Further, a spokesman with the provincial land and resources bureau said Sunday that the bureau had been investigating the dispute between the two mines and had been helping with the negotiations prior to the explosion.Pan Mingzhou, manager of the Yuejin coal mine, said, "the two mines had no dispute at all before October, and the negotiations were going well under the supervision of the provincial land and resources bureau.""I have no idea of why the explosion happened," Pan noted.The detainees included Wang Jianfu, contractor of the Xiaosongdi coal mine, and Zheng Chunyun, owner of the Yuejin coal mine, said the local police.Both of the mines have an annual production capacity of 90,000 tonnes.

BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Finance said here Wednesday that it will sell a batch of 30-year long-term book-entry treasury bonds this week at a yield of 4.23 percent.The bonds, with a total face value of 28 billion yuan (about 4.2 billion U.S. dollars), will be sold over five days starting Thursday, said the ministry in a statement on its website.The bonds are the 40th batch of the kind to be sold by the ministry this year, and will be the fifth batch of 30-year T-bonds the ministry has sold this year.The bonds will become tradable on Dec. 15 through the national inter-bank bond market and over the counter at designated commercial banks. Interest will be paid every half year.
