SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A jury returned several guilty verdicts Friday against a La Jolla restaurant owner accused of raping eight women who he either drugged or knew were too intoxicated to consent to sex.Jurors found 61-year-old Daniel Dorado guilty of 20 counts in connection with alleged rapes that happened in 2009, 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018. Some of the counts Doroado was found guilty of include two counts of rape of an unconscious person; two counts of rape of an intoxicated person; two counts of assault with intent to commit rape, sodomy oral copulation or sexual penetration of an unconscious or intoxicated person; two counts of sexual penetration of an unconscious person with an unknown object; and two counts of sexual penetration of an intoxicated person with an unknown object.Dorado had faced 35 felony counts. The jury acquitted him on three counts, deadlocked on six counts, and have not yet reached verdicts on six remaining counts. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man says his car was stolen while he was picking up a delivery order from a Subway in Clairemont. Luis Riveramerced said he was working for Postmates, a food delivery app, on Tuesday when he stopped at the Subway in Clairemont Town Square.“All I had to do is grab the bag and take off,” he said.So he felt comfortable leaving his car running, expecting to be in and out in a few seconds.“If I know it’s pick-up only, then I'll let my car run. I’ll just grab it,” he said.But while he was inside, he noticed part of the order was missing. As he was waiting for the order to be fixed, surveillance video captured a man peeking into the store, getting in his car and driving away.“I was like wow,” he remembered thinking when he went back outside. “I wasn’t expecting somebody to jump in my car right in front of me and take off like that.”He called the police but by the time they got there, the driver was long gone.“You put a little bit of trust and now I will never do that again,” said Riveramerced.A Navy veteran, he said he’d been working for Postmates for a few weeks. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A patient who tested positive for novel coronavirus in San Diego County has fully recovered, UC San Diego said Wednesday. The hospital says it was informed of the recovery by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The individual is no longer infectious and was discharged Wednesday. The person is also no longer under federal quarantine or isolation orders. The news comes as the San Diego Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to extend a local public health emergency in response to the virus. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A new program vows to help buy houses for teachers who are working on making it in San Diego.“It's not huge to a lot of people, but it's more space than we've ever had,” says Amy Noble as she takes us on a tour of the new house that she and her husband, Eric, bought in South Orange County. They’re high school educators and got married years ago, but home ownership seemed impossible for them. “The rent for apartments was so much that we really didn't have a good opportunity to save,” says Amy.RELATED: Making it in San Diego: Key saving steps helped renter buy her first home“We're the only private company right now that's focusing exclusively on educators,” says Nikki Lowy with Landed.Lowy says the company has already helped about 200 educators buy homes in expensive cities like Denver, Los Angeles and Seattle. Now, the company is making its way into San Diego.“[Teachers] are so important to the safety and well being and health of our communities and yet a lot of them don't see a future in the communities,” Lowy adds.Landed reportedly gives educators half the down payment for the house. In exchange, educators share 25 percent of the investment gain or loss with Landed. Gunnery Sergeant Roy Wesley Brady Jr. retired from the Marine Corps after 22 years of service. On Monday, he left San Diego for New Jersey.It is a journey that will take about half a year to complete, and it is not the first time he has made the intense trek.Check out the story I did with him.
